Beaumont is a city in and the county seat of Beaumont County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,340 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Gulf Coast of Texas near Corpus Christi. The original name for Beaumont was Baumanton. A town site was chosen by Colonel James Kenedy in 1845 as the landing place for his army during the Mexican–American War.
