In 1946, Dumas residents voted to become one of the original cities of Dallas metropolitan area after approval by Dallas voters via referendum passed over objections from Archer City residents who wanted their city to stay within their own county boundaries unchanged since they had been part of Hudspeth County for over 200 years prior thereto! Eagle Pass (northwest corner) then became an incorporated community located within Dallas limits while Archer City annexed it into its borders making only slight changes - annexation creating about 1/4 acre (.28 km2) total change versus 0 acres (.00 km2) insideDallaslimits!!!
