Each Target had an iron crosshair and could shoot either shot or eggs from twenty feet away. From 1909 to 1915, four new metal Targets were erected at the old Sperry & Co plant on Commerce Street (now Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company). These targets were two feet wide and thirty feet long and could shoot either shot or eggs from fifty feet away

In the 1800s, El Campo was a thriving town located in the present-day city of Austin. The town was founded by Spanish colonists in 1824 and grew rapidly due to its location on the banks of the San Antonio River. By 1870, El Campo had become one of the most important settlements in Texas and boasted a population of over 5,000 people. However, by 1895, El Campo had fallen victim to an outbreak of smallpox that decimated the local populace. As a result, many residents relocated to other parts of Texas or left Texas altogether. In 1930, however, El Campo returned to its former prominence as a center for agriculture and ranching activity. Today, the town is home to a small number of residents who still rely on agriculture for their livelihoods.
El Campo is a small city in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 582 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin–Round Rock metropolitan area. The town was founded by Mexicans in 1836 as San Fernando de El Campo, named for the then-vast and still-unexplored El Camino Real—or "Royal Road"—that linked Mexico City with Puebla on the central plain of Mexico. In 1839, when General Antonio López de Santa Anna ordered all Mexican settlers east of the Rio Grande to leave their homes, about fifty families chose to stay behind and began to name themselves after saints: San Fernando (Latin for "Starry Mountain"), Padre Nuño (Latin for "Father Niño"), and José María (Hernandez). They built Adobe Walls around their homes, grew corn and wheat crops, raised cattle, and prospected for gold in what became Hudspeth County. When it was organized as Hudspeth County in 1846 under Lieutenant Colonel James Bowie, El Campo had a post office and one store. The first school building was erected in 1847; there were no schools until1876. In 1860s a railroad came through town; it connected Houston with Dallas and made El Campo an important center of trade. A cotton gin was built in 1865; it gave rise to the nickname "Gin Town." The first oil well appeared on maps in 1886 but wasn't drilled until 1889; it produced wells up to . By 1907 there were twenty-six businesses operating out of five stores/banking institution/telephone company/ cigar store combination on Main Street which included two restaurants/barbershop/golf course etc., post office/. El Campo, Texas is a small town located in Hudspeth County, Texas. The population was 1,883 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Austin-Round Rock metropolitan area. The town began as a cattle ranch called Rancho El Campo de las Palomas. It was founded by José Antonio El Campos in 1836 and named for his father, Don Carlos El Campos. The original ranch stretched from San Marcos to Dripping Springs and included 2,500 head of cows and 700 horses. In 1892, the ranch was sold to George H. Wickersham and became part of his Wichita Falls oil field empire. Wickersham renamed it Rancho El Paso del Rio Grande but it reverted back to Rancho El Campo after he died in 1957. In 1916, John Denton bought theranch from Wickersham's widow Conchita and renamed it Rancho San Antonio; this name continued to be used until 1943 when it became known as Ranchero Texan de Pico Alto (Ranch 12 High). Between 1944 and 1946, David Beall purchased most of Ranchero Texan de Pico Alto from Francisco Román Sánchez y Guerra and changed its name to Ranch La Amistad (Ranch 13). From 1959 until 1978, Don Alfredo Ramos ran the ranches as an independently owned cooperative enterprise known as La Galaxia (Blue Galaxy) with headquarters in San Antonio; later that year he merged with Acapulco Petroleum Corporation to form Gulf Oil Corporation In 1984, Gulf Oil Corporation merged with Mobil Corp., creating what is now ExxonMobil Incorporated In 1989 Koppers Coopers opened a store adjacent to Municipal Airport which has been home to KOOPs since 1938 In 1997 ExxonMobil leased land near IH-35 south of downtown for an open water injection well known as "XOMARS" which production began in 2002
El Campo was founded in 1872 by a group of Texas entrepreneurs, led by General Sam Houston. The town grew rapidly after it became the terminus of the Butterfield Overland Mail route. In 1879, El Campo was named the capital of Texas because it served as the interim government for all of Mexico during the Mexican Revolution. In 1912, El Campo merged with Arlington to form Arlington-El Campo (now Aransas County).
