Flower Mound is a city in Willacy County, Texas, United States. The population was 4,922 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Willacy County. They named it "Monsieur Fort" because they thought there might be a fort hereabouts. A post office was established at Flower mound on July 1, 1873. A railroad station was also established here about this time. That same year, he became mayor of Flower mound and served until his death in 1916. In 1922, when Willacy County was created from portions of Johnson County, Garden City became its only municipality and remains so today. When all Johnson County municipalities were consolidated into one body under the new government system known as "the docket", Garden City remained separate though annexed by other municipalities during that process - most notably US 90/Upper Kansas Highway which cuts through downtown Garden City today (though it has since been re-routed). It wasn't until 1957 when another new municipality - Star Valley - incorporated within Flower Mound limits just northeast of present day Uptown Shopping Center on I-635 W., becoming one of only two cities in Texas with more than 2K residents before annexation by other municipalities occurred statewide in 2011;the other being Dallas suburbs Arlington and Irving . In recent years many businesses have closed up shop or relocated to larger markets due to economic conditions such as low commodity prices or changes in transportation patterns; those closures have led to increased traffic congestion on I-635 W., making it difficult for people living downtown to get around without getting lost or frustrated trying to find their way back home later at night or early morning...in short; things are tough times for downtown Fountain Square these days!

Flower Mound is a town located in the U.S. state of Texas, near Dallas. The population was 7,816 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Flower Mound was founded by settlers in 1871 as a small farming community named Flower Hill on the banks of Buffalo Bayou. By 1881, the community had become known as Flower Mound due to its blooming flowers and fertile soil. In 1902, after years of growth, Flower Mound became an incorporated city with its own government and economy. The city annexed neighboring townships in 1959 to form a larger municipality that still exists today as Flower Mound-Muncie County. The town's history begins with two pioneers who journeyed westward during the American Civil War searching for new land to settle: George Peake and his brother James Peake. After arriving in Texas in 1861, they began construction on what would become their home: peaking out from under a bluff overlooking Buffalo Bayou and naming their new settlement "Flower Hill." For several years before it was abandoned due to lack of food and water availability, the settlement served as both a military base for Confederate forces during the war and also as a place where farmers could sell their crops to Confederate troops stationed nearby. As time passed and resources dwindled, local residents decided not to stay within their own community but move away into other parts of Texas; however, many descendants of those early settlers still live within walking distance of each other today thanks to satellite telecommunication technology! However much has changed since then – including changes wrought by Hurricane Harvey – one thing remains constant: downtown’s rich history which can be seen throughout every inch of this historic townscape! In fact, some locals even say that “the lost Cause” is why downtown bustles with life despite being little more than old buildings surrounded by parkland these days! To scores of individual brick sidewalks lining both sides of Market Street complete with period railing ornaments (most notably one dating back to 1889!), or even more recent examples such as Friendship Lawn (& Fountain) Park across Elm Avenue – all attest unequivocally to how significant Flower Mound really was during its earliest days…including when General Sam Houston called upon Texans gathered here “to make us another country” back in 1836! In 1870 alone (just prior to annexation by Muncie County), Flower Mound saw an influxof 3 Scotsmen - John Macdonald & Co., proprietors/builders OF HUGHES NATIONWIDE WATER COALITION TOOK FLOWER HILL FACTORY IN 1876 FOR USE AS A MILITARY BASE; WILLIAM BETHUNE OWNS PROPERTY FROM 1886 TO 1890 BEFORE SOLD TO JAMES DALLAS PEPEAK In 1903 THE CITY ADDED ONONLY THREE MORE CITIES INCLUDING TEXAS NORTHWEST CAPITAL CITY INC.; BUT THE RESIDENT POPULATION CONTINUED TO GROW LATE INTO THE 20th CENTURY AND BY 1920 IT WAS NEAR 10% OF THE TOTAL Population OFDallas-Fort Worth METROPOLIS NEW ORLEANS AREA 1% . . . . . . .FLOWER MIOUND IS FIRST CLASS COMMUNITY WITH ITS OWN GOVERNMENT AND ECONOMY THAT HAS PRESERVED ITS HERITAGE FOR OVER TWENTY YEARS NOW!.
