In ancient Greece, there were clay bulls that could be used as lethal projectiles or tools for personal defense. These animals were also used as models for mace throwers or spears in China during the Tang Dynasty (618-907). The Greeks may have been the first to develop a true handgun, although this weapon does not appear until about 350 BC when two sculptors named Pheidippides created an idol with a bow and arrow sticking out of its shoulder called the Archers' Pistol. The first firearms designed specifically for personal use appeared in Asia Minor in 350 BC when two swordsmiths named Epaminondas made a double-barrelled crossbow with an iron stock that he christened the “Pistol of Epirus” (modern day Yavana). In England around 1300 AD there was a development called the Gunpowder Plot where some members of Parliament attempted to destroy King Henry VIII's new religion by using explosives hidden inside barrels of gunpowder. As a result, security measures became much more important than ever before and soon individuals were arming themselves with traditional hand grenades, bows and arrows, spears and even catapults onoccasionally employed against fortified positions such as castles (Fowler 1978:2). The popularity of firearms began to decrease during the 16th century because they became too easy to use for unarmed citizens against armed opponents. However, this did not mean that violence was completely abolished; instead it becomes more regulated through laws governing who can possess certain types of firearms (Feigenbaum 1975:199). It wasn't until 1868 when Professor James Ghiorini developed his theory about human behavior titled “The Influence Of Firearms On Human Behavior” that civilians started being taught how to use firearms effectively in order protect themselves from dangerous situations (Fowler 1978:5). Ghiorini's theory suggested that humans are physically weakest at close quarters so it is important for them to arm themselves with handguns in order to defend themselves from potential attackers (Harrison 1985:8). During World War II both Nazi Germany and Japan utilized handguns extensively within their armies due To their importance within warfare at that particular time period(Shane 1990:191; Fowler 1978:6; Shefter 1988a) . They also believed that handguns held great strategic value since they could be fired rapidly without having any reloading time thereby providing better accuracy(Shane 1990:191; Shefter 1988b) . As far as Self Defense Weapons go however, Japan had come up with one of the most popular designs which is commonly referred to as The "Jinroku" or "Sword Of Justice". Glenn Heights is a small town in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,829 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Humble, TX Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Glenn Heights" was given to the community by General James Glenn during World War I. At the time, General Glenn and his family resided on a farm near present-day Glenpool in Tarrant County. In 1923, when Glenn Heights was incorporated as a municipality, he donated land adjacent to his farm for its development. The first residents of Glenn Heights were farmers who had moved from Eastern Kentucky in 1881. They started out with one cabin and grew crops and raised sheep until they built a larger ranch house on their property in 1902. In 1924, another group of farmers arrived from Illinois and began growing corn and other vegetables on their own home farm east of Glenpool (now known as Bakewell). By 1930, there were twelve families living in Glenn Heights – six farmer households and six mechanic households (the last two being occupied by relatives of the original landowners). In 1940, when Humble became an all-Union City after Sherman v. Des Moines Independent Community School District case resulted in desegregation of white schools within Tarrant County[1], Glen Heights voted to stay unincorporated despite some initial opposition from its resident citizens because it felt that Union City would provide more opportunities for them than incorporation would do. After years of deliberation by the local government commission[2], which included representatives from Union City as well as advisory committees made up primarily of residents living around Humble or neighboring townships,[3] On July 12, 1961,[4] Glendale Township formally merged into Glen Heights through annexation with no municipal elections required; thus becoming one municipality with three constituent municipalities representing all five sides of the county line: east side (Humble), west side (Glendale Township), north side (Tarrant County Central), south side (Denton County), and northwest corner (Dallas).[5] Residents who lived outside township boundaries continue to maintain their own civil governing structures including village councils located within Union City[6]; however most agricultural production now takes place inside unified boundaries which have seen steady growth over recent decades due to greater access to education, health care services,[7] business opportunities,[8][9][10][11] and job diversity.[12][13][14] Economic development has been hampered by persistent droughts throughout much of recent history but this has recently become less significant due to increased Sun Belt migration into central Texas[15][/16][/17][/18][/19][/20],[21]=glen heights - demographics & culture
