Grapevine is a town in Medina County, Texas, United States. The population was 3,829 at the 2010 census. The name of the community comes from two words: grape and vine. This appellation for its grapes originated from early settlement of the area by European-Americans who grew up on land that had been donated to them by the Spanish government. The firstguns in Grapevine were made by Texans named Waco (Waco Rifle Company) and gift from Ulysses S. Grant to General William Tecumseh Sherman in 1865 as part of the Treaty of Paris following World War I. These guns were designed for hunting deer and other small game which permitted peaceable farmers to protect their crops against bandits or raiders during pre-Civil War Period gunfights between Indians and white settlers."

Grapevine, Texas is a small town located in the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. The population was 9,866 at the 2010 census. Grapevine is part of the Dallas/Fort Worth County School District. Grapevine was established in 1887 as a trading post on the Neches River by General James Fenton and his wife, Elizabeth A. Hance. In 1951, Grapevine became an incorporated town when it annexed portions of Irvington and Plano. On July 1, 1998, Grapevine adopted its current name of "Grapevine." The townsite of Grapevine has been settled by various cultures since prehistory. The Lipan Apache people who lived there for more than three hundred years are thought to be the first inhabitants of what is now Grapevine County. In 1851 Dragoons under Colonel John Waco attacked the Lipan Apache village at San Angelo and destroyed all but one household; this event would later be called “Waco” because Captain William Bacy gave orders for this attack. The Lipan Apaches were forced to migrate south and finally east during the cattle drives that took place during the early 1800s to find new land where they could live without fear of being scalpred or captured by Mexicans or Americans seeking revenge for recent losses in their territory (Mosesbey). According to legend, two brothers named John and Jim Bowie were driving cattle through present-day Montgomery County when they came across a group of Lipan Apaches camped on an isolated mountain near what is now known as Bowie Lake (Langston). After killing all but one man within sight with bows and arrows, John Bowie took his brother’s horse into town so he could trade it for goods he needed while Jim Bowie distributed food among his fellow scouts trying to find a way out alive (Drake). Shortly thereafter both men married local women who bore them children before migrating again soon after (Powell). Eventually Spanish traders arrived in Texas and began exploring what is now Grapevine County in search of natural resources such as oil wells which led to tension between Mexico andTexas over control of these resources(Fenton) It wasn't until 1853 when Colonel James Fenton negotiated a treaty with Mexican President Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna allowing American settlers access to Mexican soil through East Texas.(Fenton) Consequently America's first permanent Anglo community was born - Grapevine - from land that had once been part of Mexico(Hance). Today many descendants still reside here including those who founded speaking institutions like Rice University & Baylor University . A variety crops were grown here including corn, cottonseed oil shale beans, potatoes etc., however most residents today are concentrated around core industries like manufacturing base aberdeen county government services agricultural research herbicides petrochemicals plastics

Grapevine, Texas is a census-designated place in Tarrant County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,715 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. Grapevine was founded by Texans John and Jane Goodloe in 1879 as a small town on the banks of the Trinity River. The Goodloe's named their new settlement after grape vines that grew near them on their property. The Grapevine post office was established in 1880, and remained in operation until it closed in 1916. The town developed rapidly due to its location within easy reach of many businesses and railroads. In 1886, the first streetcars reached Grapevine from Dallas; by 1890, there were two train stations within a few miles of the town. By 1895, grape production had become an important aspect of local economy; by 1910, grape product accounted for more than 50% of total economic output. In 1915, when World War I began, Grapevine became an all-out defensive position against Japanese bombers attacking Fort Worth; however, little impact resulted from this defense because Japan never bombed America again until World War II began six years later
The first organized grapevine society in Texas was founded in 1854 by a group of farmers in San Antonio. The society grew quickly and by 1865 had chapters throughout the state. By 1870, grapevine societies were also present in Austin, Dallas, Houston, and El Paso.
