Irving, Texas is home to one of the oldest optical companies in the United States. Established in 1907 by Harold Kapp and his brother, Julius Kapp, Irving Optical Manufacturing Company was a leading manufacturer of optical equipment and supplies. In 1951, the company merged with G.E. Smith & Sons Corporation to form American Optical Corporation (AOC). AOC was subsequently acquired by Sylvania Industries in 1987 and then by Littelfuse Technology Group in 2001. Today, Littelfuse leads the field of electronic components manufacturing with its core products including integrated circuits (ICs), lasers, light emitting diodes (LEDs), optoelectronics and photonic systems. In 1907, Harold Kapp founded Irving Optical Manufacturing Company out of his garage because he wanted to provide quality optics at a fraction of the cost traditional manufacturers were charging for their same level of production technology at that time. This began what would be an illustrious career for Mr. Kapp as he would go on to become one of America’s most successful entrepreneurs ever! After decadesOf success within America’s optical industryMr Kapp passed away in 2000 but his legacy lives on through his sons who continue production at their father’s old plant today! Irving, Texas is a small town in Dallas County, Texas, United States. The population was 7,913 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas-Fort Worth metropolitan area. Irving was founded on November 3, 1879 by oil prospectors John Wertheimer and Moses Hays. The community was named for General George Armstrong Custer as a tribute to his victory at Little Bighorn over the Sioux Nation in 1875. The first post office in Irving opened on December 1, 1879. A store and livery were built in what is now the downtown core of the town in 1880. By 1888, a cotton gin had been built and 100 acres (40 hectares) of corn land surveyed for $5 per acre was sold to farmers from Grayson County for $10 an acre. Harvey Wertheimer donated land to build a high school in 1907 and another college building soon followed; both have been preserved as part of Irving's cultural heritage since then. In 1922 it became one of 12 townships within Dallas County when it was created from parts of Grayson and Travis Counties; independence came about due to lack of funds for local roads needed for such an expansion. In 1965 construction began on Interstate 10 through eastern Arlington County which would eventually destroy much of Irving's downtown core; however, most efforts thereafter were to keep downtown open with various renovation projects that continue today including new restaurants and retail spaces as well as restoration work on some old buildings dating back to the early 1800s while also creating new public spaces like Market Square Park which has become home to many events throughout year including concerts by popular artists like country music artist Tim McGraw and rock bands like 311 and Linkin Park during their "One Year later" tour performances this past summer - tickets are available here! With suburban growth spurring development along I-10 Road outside its original boundaries coming quickly after JW Marriott's move into that area adjacent thereto (the hotel/office complex now known as One Northstar Center began operation there upon completion), Businessman & Developer Denton Coombs took steps towards redeveloping much or all portions of east Arlington throughout the late 1990s & 2000s into a mixed-use "smart city" type environment complete with comprehensive transportation planning tools unheard before anywhere else east bounded by Loop 1604 ( Lower Greenville Rd.), Sixteenth Street NW ( linking Downtown DFW with uptownDallas), sendrinig Highway 900N outwards from I- 10 concurrent/intersecting Streets Drinker & Kessler Avenue - difficult enough trying not too make it look too good while still accomplishing business outcomes they felt would develop southward parallel arterial streets between IDOT project jurisdiction etc., resulting currently more than doubling size (~250 employees) per mile squared Characteristically Enterprise Risk Management approach taken
The town of Irving, Texas was founded in 1836 by General Sam Houston. The city grew rapidly due to the discovery of oil and gas reserves in the area. In 1907, Irving became the capital of Texas.
