In 1829, Daniel Boone came to Kingsville from Kentucky and purchased land from the original settler, Jacob Hogg. Boone set up his home here until his death in 1840s At that time, Kingsville became county seat for Nakoma County because Austin and Sam Houston had refused to give it up to Fort Worth because they thought it would be too competitive with their city. In 1830, John Neely Candlish bought land west of present day Kingsville from Hogg for $1,000 cash Creek Indians helped clear the land for farming purposes as early as 1794 when Spanish troops burned down two trading posts west of what is now Kingvill

In 2006, Mayor Bobbie Smith announced that she would not seek re-election due to her health concerns but she remains active in local politics and continue support for development projects within KingsVILLE
