The designation came about due to efforts by then-Mayor Tom Hicks who believed that development within our city should be based upon joint effort instead of individual achievement alone; he early realized that an agglomeration like Dallas could only grow if we worked together rather than compete against each other for resources and jobs. As time passed during which more businesses opened their doors within our limits; more residents moved into our midst; new subdivisions were built; highways were improved...the importance of being associated with DFW grew greater still! Today there are more than 3,000 residents living within easy walking distance of each other who enjoy access to quality education opportunities including Arlington Heights Community High School & Dallas North Park University!
