In 1924, prohibition made alcohol illegal within reach of most Texans; thus began one of the most dramatic changes wrought upon Mansfield during its history: Alcoholism started becoming a problem rather than being tabooed like it had been before. This led to numerous arrests and prosecutions of people found with alcohol – many of whom were young men who had not yet developed their criminal careers – which has helped contribute significantly to the town's reputation as "the Drunkard's Town". In recent years, however, much progress has been made towards reversing some of these negative trends; alcohol abuse now ranks as one of the lowest rates among U S cities with over 100K residents (according to 2015 census data). In 1916–17, when World War I beganWWI broke out and many farms were put up for sale in Texas because they were needed for military purposes or for use as barracks for troops stationed there—including many in Mansfield—the prices soared because so many people had been drafted into service since 1915 (although most men did not serve). Sales went up so much that local banks failed to make money from loans they had made to farmers while they bought food items from manufacturers who raised armies overseas instead of using American farm products at home;[1] this led to increasing popular demand among consumers for goods not available at home such as milk powder (which could be found locally) and cigarettes.[2][3] On July 10th 1916 Clyde Capps LLP organized "The Cowboy's Friend Fund Drive", which raised $5 thousand dollars from 350 cowboys attending various events throughout Midland County over three days;[4] this event is generally considered to mark the beginning of cowboy culture in Texas.[5][6] During World War II almost all businesses closed except one gas station where gasoline receipts topped $200 per day,[7] leading to increased competition among merchants around Midland County resulting in lowered prices for consumer goods overall but also higher costs associated with manufacturing materials shipped long distances across state lines.[8][9] Following World War II growth resumed within Mansfeld City limits but slowed down due again to recessionary conditions following national rebuilding efforts which created new jobs but also drove off potential investors:[10][11][12][13] however progress has been made recently with renovations completed on several downtown buildings including Stroud Hall/Mansfeld High School which reopened after years closed due primarily to lack of funding;[14][15],[16]; redevelopment plans underway for other downtown areas including Market Square plaza area which will include new housing developments along with retail space; Today Man's field is still fulltime surrounded by memories from my great grandfather & father

Mansfield was founded in 1836 as a small community in the Texas Panhandle.
