The Paris, Texas Gun Targets Club was founded in 1946. The club is located on County Road 3 in the town of Paris, about 25 miles east of Amarillo. The club has been a non-profit organization for more than 60 years. The Paris Gun Targets Club is open to all shooters who are interested in learning how to hit targets with firearms. Members can come to the club and learn how to shoot at distances up to 100 yards, as well as discover what types of firearms are best suited for hitting targets at various distances. To participate in this fun activity, shooters must be 18 or older and have a valid handgun license from their state or federal government registry. All members must bring their own target rifle or shotgun and ammunition that meets the specific needs of the club. There is no charge for joining the club, but there is a $10 fee per session for each weapon used during shooting activities.

The city annexed parts of neighboring Georgetown in 1923 and 1954. Since its incorporation as a municipality, Paris has experienced various changes. In 1957 it became the site of the first state high school graduation ceremony for all students in Texas; this event is still celebrated annually by the City Council on Notre Dame Boulevard in downtown Paris. The same year saw the opening of what is now known as Balance Learning Center - one of only three schools in Paris that offer charter education options to parents not currently enrolled in traditional public schools (the other two are Dowling High School and Crossroads Christian Academy). In 1978-79, Paris received national attention when it hosted what was then considered to be one of the most important events in American history - President Jimmy Carter's historic visit to Dallas/Fort Worth for his campaign rally on October 20th! In recent years, much progress has been made within the community spirit that once characterized Paris so well. For example, since 2002 Mayor John Kapp announced plans for a new Arts District which will include an outdoor amphitheater capable seating up to 1,,000 people; development from local artists has seen new restaurants pop up throughout downtown while projects such as preservation work on PARIS' Historic district have brought about increased visitor numbers over time
Paris, Texas was founded by the French in 1836 as a rancho called Rancho de los Angeles. The name change to Paris, Texas in 1848 when the city of Paris was established. The town grew rapidly and by 1870 had a population of about 1,500 people. By 1907, the population had grown to over 10,000 people and the city annexed Paris.
