Pasadena, Texas is a town in Hudspeth County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,847 at the 2010 census. Pasadena is located on the eastern edge of Hudspeth County and is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth Metroplex. The city was founded by Isham Lewis in 1876 as a small trading post called "Pasadena". The name "Pasadena" comes from Spanish and means "place where two rivers meet." The first settlers were Mexicans who came through what is now Pasadena in 1836 to wash clothes. They named their new town after José de Arguelles y la Torre, Commander-in-Chief of Mexico City during the Mexican Revolution (1810-1821). The area that would become Pasadena was mostly forest until the arrival of American settlers in the early 1800s. One settler, John Crain, built his house near present day Pasadena on Rancho Santa Fe land grant given him by Governor Manuel Micheltorena on December 4, 1827. In 1850, James Peebles bought land east of downtown from Mirabeau Lamar Baylor for $2 per acre and formed the nucleus of what would become Pasadena's first commercial district with stores and restaurants opening up along Main Street between about 1830 and 1840. In 1876 Isham Lewis founded Pasadena as a small trading post near today's Spring Grove Drive and Western Avenue. He named it after José de Arguelles y la Torre because he felt this would be an auspicious site for settlement due to its location between two major rivers - the Colorado River to the north and La Jolla Creek to the south. In 1888 Los Angeles began expanding westward into Hudspeth County so when annexation occurred for Los Angeles proper (i.e., including Pasadena) on February 14th 1889; only 2 days later Isham Lewis' post became part of Los Angeles annexed territory although still under Hudspeth County jurisdiction

Pasadena is one of two cities in Texas (the other being Dallas) with a Latino majority - 43% in 2009 - and has been dubbed "The City by the Sea" for its dramatic coastline, beaches and nightlife scene. Pasadena’s history dates back to 1836 when it was founded by Doctor Francisco Lopez de Santa Anna as an adobe settlement called Nueva Potosi on what is now Imperial Highway 2 south of Interstate 10. In 1845, Mexican General Antonio López de Santa Anna built Fort Bowie here after Rancho Adobe No. 5 became available east of Mission Reach on Palo Alto Creek near present-day White Sands Beach Boulevard. In 1860, Pasadena was annexed by Austin and incorporation began on December 12th that year under the name “Avery” but quickly changed to Pasadena due to lack of approval from then-Governor Mirabeau Biddle for an incorporated municipality withinAustin without his knowledge or consent. Finally approved on March 15th 1861 by Biddle after weekslong delay due to objections from eastern Austin businesses who feared their properties would be lost if their city got too big – this action set off a firestorm among Austin business owners that continues to this day over whether annexation should have happened in the first place! On November 7th 1870, during American Civil War Battle of Monterrey River Bridge north side along US 281 between Paseo del Rio and Frio Streets (now Sam Houston Parkway), Confederate General Robert ELee's First Corps attack against Union General John Jumper's Second Corps resulted in more than 50 dead according to Federal historian Samuel Adams Johnston Jr.. Aftermath: A Market Place Crossroads Today marks where Union Major David Baird drove Confederate Captured Horses intoAN ABANDONED MUNICIPAL GARDEN WHERE THEY remained until sold at public auction off to private buyers five years later!
