Pflugerville is a town in Midland County, Texas, United States. The population was 5,827 at the 2010 census. Pflugerville is part of the Austin–Round Rock Metropolitan Statistical Area. Pflugerville was founded in 1847 by three brothers from Germany who named it after their hometown, Flügge (Waldshut). After years of growth and development, the town reached its present size in 1906 when it annexed the adjacent village of Westville. In 1959, Pflugerville became one of 25 towns and villages to be merged into Round Rock City. The history of Pflugerville begins with three German farmers who established themselves on a farmstead near what is now known as Pflugerville in 1847. Johann Gottlieb Kapp and his sons Friedrich and Wilhelm were among those who settled here; they named their farmstead Waldshut (Waldshut Village). The Kapps continued to live here until their death in 1904. In 1906, when Round Rock City was created from the merger of 25 separate towns and villages across Midland County, Pflugerville became one of its constituent municipalities. At that time it had a population of 1,500 residents—a small amount compared to today’s population of over 20,000 people! From then through the 1960s there was an ever-growing emphasis on community life within this vibrant rural area; many events which are remembered today throughout our community took place during this time. One significant event which occurred during these years was the construction of the First Baptist Church in 1906; this church continues to serve as our local landmark to this day! AdditionallyNotable citizens during this time include Dr J D Salinger (founder and first president emeritusof UT Southwestern Medical School), Judge Roy Bean (U2 frontman), Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones (founder & CEO Of PepsiCo) & several other eminent individuals including Mayor Phil Hardeman; all men whose influence has been felt throughout our community for decades now! During recent times there have been numerous restauraunt openings such as Tommy's BBQ & Grill upon annexation into Round Rock City proper earlier this year - additional businesses which contribute significantly to economic vibrancy within our city Limits! In addition thereto several park expansions have taken place including Riverfront Park just southwest corner o' Main Street (& recently home to Budweiser Stadium!), bringing even more excitement & vitality to our downtown core - making sure that everyone living/working within our limits feels like they’re right at home!
Pflugerville was founded in 1845 by Nicholas Pflugerville and his family. The town grew rapidly from the initial population of twenty-two to three hundred people by 1850. The first store in Pflugerville opened its doors in 1851. By 1860, the population had grown to four hundred people. In 1871, a post office was established in Pflugerville and it continued to grow until it reached its current size of two thousand residents in 1950. In 1907, the Texas Railroad Commission approved plans for a railroad through Pflugerville and it became reality eleven years later. The railroad helped fuel the growth of Pflugerville and its community as well as increase trade between the town and surrounding counties. By 1920, PFLUGERVILLE had become one of the most important communities in Texas with a population of six thousand residents.
