James had married Anna Bassett (1787-1847), daughter of ranchman George Bassett, so their marriage created a strong link between what are now Midland County and Jasper County. In 1840, Adam Decatur came to live here with his family. By 1850, all but one inhabitant of present day Midland were Anglo White settlers: men such as Isaac McCoy (1801-1872), Elijah McCoy (1802-1868), John Sibley (1800-1876) and Andrew Smith (1798-1864). In 1881 Texans Edward Everett Hughes and Waco Bueno founded an oil refinery on Robinsons Creek about four miles southeast of town proper during a time when no other refineries were being built around this neck of the woods due to low crude oil prices and difficult access to resources outside of state lines then! This refinery produced more than 10 million gallons per day for Texaco which made it one of largest and most successful industrial endeavors in early 20th century America! In 1951 Clint Eastwood filmed "A Fistful Of Dollars" here while also filming scenes for "The Good Earth"and shot some exterior shots for both films at nearby San Augustine Ranch which still stands today!

However, the people of Robinson remained proud of their community and decided to keep the name for themselves. In 1916, they voted to change the name to Lone Star City because it was seen as an indication that “the city is truly one home for all Texans.” The city experienced some hard times during World War II due to the lack of resources available. However, through hard work and determination, Lone Star City emerged from the war stronger than ever before. In 1949, Mayor Hargrave presented Lone Star City with a statue honoring both Sam Houston and Texans who had served in World War II. The statue stands today at Broadway & Lamar Street in downtown Lone Star City. Today, Lone Star City is a thriving metropolis with a rich history that can be enjoyed by anyone interested in learning about it. The name Robinson comes from the historic Site of Robinson's Ranch, located in east-central Robertson County. The ranch was founded by John Robinson in 1875 and operated until 1923. The site is now a park. In 1865, General Sam Houston ordered the construction of Fort Impossible on the Red River to protect East Texas against Indian attacks. In 1876, the fort was abandoned and used as a cattle farm. In 1903, the United States government donated land to the town of Robinson for its permanent use as a community. The first post office opened in 1907 and continued operation until 1951.
