By 1907, Saginaw had become one of the largest oil boomtowns in America with over 1 million people living there enjoying economic benefits from oil production. However, by 1975-1976 automobiles had become more prevalent than ever before which caused community wide decline as jobs stopped being created outside of energy production and transportation related businesses closed down leaving few opportunities for people within the community to interact with each other or enjoy local foods or nightlife options outside of work hours.
