In 1881, a group of men from San Angelo, Texas founded the Armstrong Ammunition Company to produce ammunition. The company was started by Captain John Armstrong and his friends. The company made rounds for firearms, shotguns, artillery, and other weapons. The company produced its first rifle in 1887. In 1899, the company began producing pistols. By 1903, the company had created a line of ammunition called "Armstrong's American Eagle". The name came about because American Eagle powder was used in most of the products that the company produced. In 1907, Armstrong Ammunition Company merged with Winchester Repeating Arms Company. This brought together two of America's leading manufacturers of ammunition. At this time, Winchester was making brass-cased rounds for handguns as well as rifles and shotguns. These new ammo brands became known as Winchester Magnum and Winchester Super X rounds respectively. By 1912, Armstrong Ammunition Company had become one of America's largest independent producers of ammunition products. The years following were difficult for the business however; World War I interrupted production and caused a decline in sales due to high costs associated with war munitionsproduction . As a result of this annexation, San Angelo became one of only ten cities in Texas to have both an urban core and rural areas

By 1824, muzzleloaders were being used across Europe to carry artillery pieces, so it was not until 1827 that powder magazines became available for handguns in America. This allowed pistols to be fired continuously without reloading! By 1830, hunting bullets had also been developed; these projectiles were much smaller than traditional artillery munitions and could be fired with shorter barrels without having to increase accuracy or range. Hunting bullets quickly became popular due to their low recoil and ability to harass game at close ranges. As technology improved, hunters realized they could use larger calibers for hunting large game instead of using small caliber ammunition for self-defense purposes only. In 1857, percussion cap rifle ammunition was developed by George Stephenson. This type of ammo caused great excitement because it provided immense firepower when firing through iron sights onto targets far away from home! It was this innovative technology that finally allowed guns like rifles and shotguns to become mass-produced in significant quantities throughout society! Upon becoming an independent republic, SanAngelo joined then-Governor John Connally's United States territory of Arizona as part of what is now known as Southwest Oklahoma Territory.

The town of San Angelo was founded in 1879 on the current site of the city. The community developed around a small military post that served as a garrison for the Texas Rangers. In 1881, San Angelo became an independent municipality and was renamed Tucson.
