In 1907 Waco Oil Field developer John Daugherty donated 324 acres (1 km2) to become Sugar Land Municipal Airport which served Sugar Land until it closed down on September 30, 1966 due to airport runways becoming too narrow for jets; at that time all airports were required to have paved runways by law In 1959 Charles Hirschman donated 350 acres (121 hectares) northeast of downtown SugarLand to become Hirschman Park which remains today one of America's largest private parks and home to such celebrities as Michael Jordan and Oprah Winfrey Southwest Airlines built their headquarters adjacent to IHOP east of downtown SugarLand between 1978 and 1984; later this campus housed FedEx Ground until its closurein 2006 Texas Instruments opened their new corporate headquarters adjacent to IHOP southeast side between 1984-1985

They named their new land Prairie du Chien because it resembled a prairie chicken[2]. This site became home to Hardin’s new cotton gin[3], which processed more than three milliontons (45 metric tons; 100 tbs.) worth of raw cotton every day between 1865 and 1870 alone[4]. As demand increased for cotton products in Midwestern America during the Civil War,[5] slave traders began importing slaves into Louisiana fromTexas at high prices so they could be processed into “white cloth” clothing for export back across the ocean[6]. By 1863, over 2 million slaves were living in seven U.S.-held territories comprising what is now Texas: Louisiana, Arkansas,[7], New Mexico Territory,[8], Oklahoma Territory,[9], California Territory:[10] and Nevada Territory:[11][12][13][14] when President Abraham Lincoln announced his intention to end slavery in all but 10 Southern states within one year.[15][16][17] The last slave Trader died at Texarkana on October 16th 1830 having sold his last slave near Richmond [18][19]
