Terrell, Texas is a small town located in the Midwestern United States. It was founded in 1881 by John A. Terrell and his brother-in-law, James T. Wills. The town currently has a population of around 2,000 people. John A. Terrell was born in 1851 in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania to a family of farmers. He entered the cattle business when he turned 20 years old and began selling roundup animals on the open range of western Pennsylvania. In 1881, Terrell moved to Midland County, Texas with his family and started a farm named "Wills". After five years of farming, John A. Terrell decided to move the cattle business to Texas because he found it more lucrative than eastern Oklahoma where he had been before. He opened a feed store in Terrell and continued selling his animals until 1893 when he purchased land east of town for $1 per acre (about $30 per square mile). This land became known as "The Rancho" after John A. Terrell's son-in-law, George Wickersham Cowles bought it in 1907 from TL Hays & Co., who leased it from Mr Cowles'. On October 12th 1908, what is now downtown Terrella was platted at its present location when Cowles donated three blocks of land comprising today's Main Street between Elm and Commerce Streets to the city for municipal use only; this event is also recognized as the birth date of downtown Terrella proper! In 1911 Terralls built their first school which served grades 1 through 6 but no higher because there were not yet enough schools available in that area at that time! The current school building was built in 1922 on property donated by Mrs Mildred Kappan! Mrs Kappan also helped contribute towards the cost of new streetlights which went up along Main Street downtown during World War II! The community enjoyed growing status due to oil discoveries made near their borders including Haskell Well No 3 (now part of Refinery Row) and Pembine Ridge No 7 (now Shuttleworth Park). In 1951 Texaco Inc.'s refinery next door started production making nearby towns like Midland and Beaumont much more attractive for housing development so many people leftTerrella over this period including some who still live there today! One reason why many people left may have been because they didn't feel safe living near an oil refinery! However during this time period too other businesses came into play such as retail stores etc.; one example being Bob's Discount Mart which opened up on North Main Street just north of Depot Square back in 1975!! That store closed down about two years later but Lefty's BBQ restaurant remains operational today across from Busch Brewery!!! During these times businesses did not necessarily stay put however; another example being First National Bank which reopened up on West Market Street adjacent to South Busch Stadium sometime around 1990 (!?) However it closed down again about five years later!! When shopping centers became popular DallasWalk replaced First National Bank as their Downtown bank !! Although most businesses have since returned or relocated within Downtown Terrella they continue to be represented by various logos/names throughout various parts thereof despite having no physical presence within therict confines thereof anymore... !!

The oil industry began arriving in Terrell in the early 1920s and soon characterized the economy of the community. By 1930, oil had become one of the most important factors shaping Terrell's history as a local political and economic center. In that decade, Terrell also became home to Texas A&M University which helped contribute to its importance as an educational institution today.
