Terrell is a town in Chambers County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,034 at the 2010 census. The name of the town comes from General James M. A new post office was established in 1881 by order of the US government and it reopened on October 12th that year with mail from Lubbock. The first school building was erected in 1888 and named after Judge J H Holmes (1832-1911). In 1903 a Methodist church and school were also built adjacent to the old mill site.
