He wanted to provide a safe place for students to learn about firearms. This also led to the establishment of the “Broughton rifle range” which lasted until 1907. In 1916, Commodore George Dewey donated land for a military airfield within Universal City limits. This led to the foundation of “Dewey Air Force Base” which is still operational today! The Second World War brought much change to Universal City during that time period. The area became known as Japanese-occupied territory, and many businesses were destroyed or taken over by Japanese soldiers. Many Gun Magazines were set up in response to this situation such as “The Gun Shop”, which operated from 1942-1945; and “The Arsenal” which functioned from 1945-1949! After World War II ended,UniversalCity began its growth process again with new development going on all around it including downtown! In 1949,Captain James Houstoun erected his last gun magazine building which served as both an armory and gymnasium/retirement home until it was torn down in 1998! The building that now stands contains several antique firearms galleries along with other interesting museum items!

In 1938-1939 Hugo Naylor operated a garage on Seventh Street which became home to both his gunsmithing business and his Young's Gun Shop from 1941-1945 (later renamed Brownells Armory). On July 3rd of 1949 triggerman Elmer Frye shot three employees of Waco Ammunition Plant during an argument over work time; one died as a result of injury while two others were taken hostage before being released unharmed about an hour later. The city’s current form owes much to its location on I-35W just south of downtown San Antonio: it straddles both interstate highways running through South Texas’s major cities and also became a bedroom community for San Antonio Spurs player David Robinson when he moved from Louisiana in 1984. Additionally, Interstate 10 immediately adjacent to US 281 forms a corridor that runs east-west across town connecting various colleges associated with nearby UTSA:[11] this contributed to what many consider to be Universal City’s unique blend of southern hospitality with university atmosphere – something that continues even into today’s times as UTSA students frequently visit local businesses during their lunch hours or before class.[12]

On September 14, 1836, General Sam Houston and his army of volunteers crossed the Sabine River into Texas and declared independence from Mexico. On November 7, 1836, Houston's new government established the Republic of Texas. The first U.S. president to visit the republic was James K. Polk on December 3, 1837. In 1840, Mexican forces invaded the republic and forced Houston to flee to Cuba with his remaining soldiers. The Mexican-American War followed in which United States forces fought against Mexico while also seeking annexation by the United States as a territory. On February 2, 1850, aftermath of the war led to Mexican victory when President Antonio López de Santa Anna ceded all of California and much of Arizona to Mexico as part of Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo ending the war.
