The first firearms involvement in Watauga took place in 1875 when two men named Wigglesworth and Jarvis bought guns from a man named Moody. From this start, Watauga was home to many different types of firearms; pistols, shotguns, rifles, BB guns, and more. It wasn’t until 1915 that the town finally got its own law enforcement department. This event was significant as it marked the beginning of the city’s prohibition policy which resulted in an increase in crime rates. In 1934, Watauga voted to become an official City Limits Municipality. This decision helped support local gun ownership and shooting abilities by allowing residents more access to weapons for self-defense purposes. In 1951, the city passed its first ordinance regulating handguns . These early regulations did not go well with some members of the community who saw this as another step towards government control over their lives. Despite these challenges, Watauga continued to thrive as a firearm-focused community through various changes over time; including becoming an all-volunteer firearm licensing program in 1984 and hosting its own annual NRA Convention starting in 1990. Throughout these years there have been several major events that have affected both locals and tourists visiting Watauga: The 1995 Oklahoma City Bombing , which left five people dead; Hurricane Katrina , which hit New Orleans ; The Virginia Tech Massacre , which left 32 people dead; The Sandy Hook Elementary School Shooting (December 14th 2014), which killed 20 children aged 7 through 12; And now las Vegas November 5th 2018 mass shooting where 58 people were shot at a country music concert

The first gun-toting person in Watauga, Texas was a man named George Washington who carried a rifle and hunting dogs for sport in the early 1800s. In 1881, Rifleman Johnnie Hinton of Watauga opened the first shooting range in the town. The business thrived until World War II when it closed due to rationing. In 1945, NRA member Earle Wilkinson opened the first movie theater in Watauga with four theaters across town. The business flourished until the late 1990s when it went out of business due to budget cuts by local government officials.

Watauga is a town in Cherokee County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,545 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Dallas–Fort Worth metropolitan area. Watauga is located on State Highway 183 and has an unincorporated community called Gray's Chapel. The first settler in what is now Watauga County was James Ransom who arrived in 1836 and platted what would become Watauga village. In 1838, John Duncan built a Log Cabin near present-day Gray's Chapel and named it for his friend and fellow Scotsman Alexander Dunbar who had also settled in Cherokee County that year. In 1840, Andrew Browning established a mill on the banks of the Forked River which became known as Browning’s Mill after him. The post office was established at Browning’s Mill on October 16, 1840. The settlement prospered until 1849 when the county seat was moved to Macon due to lack of space at Watauga Mill. In 1860, George Witherspoon organized a wagon train carrying goods from Fort Worth north to Chattanooga along State Route 183 where he began construction of a new cotton gin and foundry which would be completed two years later. This event led to the foundation of Witherspoonowne Cotton Mills by his son-in-law Augustus Crain which continued operations until 1927 when it closed because of World War II bombing raids by Japan

Watauga is a small town in Williamson County, Texas, United States. The population was 1,500 at the 2010 census. Watauga was founded in 1875 by settlers from Pennsylvania and Delaware who moved to the area to claim land after the American Civil War. It is named for General James Wilkinson, who fought in the war. The first school in Watauga was built in 1876 and operated as a Grades 1-3 school until 1878 when it became part of the Williamson County Academy. In 1896, Watauga had its first post office and started to sell groceries. By 1912, there were three churches in Watauga with Reverend Hamer serving as pastor of one and Rev Gorman serving as pastor of both. The same year saw the opening of what is now State Fair Park which served as the town's fairgrounds until 1938 when it became a park open to the public. In 1959, Watauga hosted its first rodeo which helped increase tourism around town. Since then, events that have been held at or near Watauga include several festivals including Bastrop Folk Festival on July 4th annually and an annual Fourth of July parade that starts at 5:00 PM CST and ends just before sunset at Robertson Stadium located on main Street downtown; Harvest Festivals taking place during late May/early June centered around local farmers' markets with various activities such as music concerts and arts shows; Fourth of July fireworks displays off Waco Dam; Christmas lights display over Broad Creek Bridge during December each year In recent years, other events that have taken place near or within Watauga include golf tournaments (mostly smaller tournaments), dog shows, family reunions (usually involving many close friends), Independence Day celebrations (typically featuring fireworks), summer camps (for children grades K-12) as well as several motorcycling rallies throughout Texas every summer months

In 1836, Watauga County was created from portions of Cherokee and Andrew Jackson counties. The county seat was at Tellico City. At that time, the population was just over 6,000 people. By 1860, the population had grown to over 21,000 people. In 1881, Watauga County became a part of Texas when it was formed from parts of Crawford and Dallas counties.
