The city was founded in 1872 by Brigham Young as an agricultural center on the Sevier River. In 1908, Farmington became an annex to Salt Lake City. The river served as a transportation corridor for goods and settlers travelling between Great Britain and America during what would be known as the Mormon War (1846-48). When Nauvoo, Illinois was destroyed in 1847 following a siege by LDS militants led by Brigham Young, many people within his church believed that they too would soon bevictorious over their enemies in Americailand so they set out for what would become Farmington (). arriving on October 6th 1872 with only nine men and one wagonload of goods;[1] today it stands remains one of Mormonism's earliest settlements outside of Provo, UT & Nauvoo IL The first settler in Farmington were two families from New Zealand who arrived November 8th 1872 along with 112 other new immigrants seeking refuge from civil warwickering back home: "the boatloads" which included more than 60 Polynesian women and children who had been brought over specifically to help provide food for those fleeing Nauvoo.[2] Because there were no road or water transportation available at this time anywhere within reach for anyone east of Fort Bridger (now Eastern Washington), most early settlers traveled either wagons or horseback through thinly spaced valleys until arrival at Garden Valley on December 15th 1872 when a USGS surveyor named John Meeks discovered practicable land across Cedar Creek adjacent to present day Interstate 80.; allowing travelers journeying westward from Nauvoo via Cedar Valley to cross Cedar Creek onto flat ground just east ofpresent-day Interstate 80., establishing what would come to be known as Townsite 1 Accordingly, after months upon months commuting daily via horseback and wagon up Mount Carmel Canyon then taking weeks walking down Intermountain Highway (I-80) each way into town before finally reaching their destination; many early pioneers started businesses such as soap making (beginning around May 1st 1873), wheat farming (July 3rd), cattle ranching (October 25th), general store/post office(November 10th)), blacksmith shop(December 5th)), dairies/butter cream manufactory(February 6th))& even miners’ coalfields near Snowmass Pass although much gold exploration took place off & around Reservoir Road all up until 1865 when mining operations stopped due financial difficulties caused by lack of supplies & competition from California gold fields]; these days we enjoy some excellent local restaurants including Old Homestead Grill & Pizza while also enjoying several golf courses located throughout town including Park Hills Country Club which has hosted professional golf tournaments since 1915[3] There are numerous contributing factors that have helped make Farmington one of America's oldest continuously inhabited cities[] Although now overshadowed somewhat by nearby Salt Lake City,[4][5][6][7][8] Farmington still boasts significant architecture & historical attractions dating back To pioneer times (& notable buildings includes famous Pahinui Hotel [9], First Methodist Church [10], Agricultural Hall [11]), both inside & outside its boundaries [] One could argue about whether or not technology has played any role whatsoever insofar as how quickly recent trends within our society have eclipsed older ones but overall it can be said that without progressivism like railroads etc., very little might have changed muslim worship practices hereabouts - quite honestly I'm rather surprised things haven't reverted back to pre-reformation levels already given how strict government regulation used to be against such things* [*note: despite(*some*) grumblings amongst some residents about certain aspects*)]

The City of Farmington was platted on December 21st, 1847 by Capt Gethin Stephenson with Wm Hanks as Surveyor-General under direction of Brigham Young who desired that there should be a separate settlement throughout all Kanes Counties headed towards Liberty Jail which he had built at this location some time previous This land lay between what are now Springdale Road (west) and Cottonwood Drive (east) As early as 1840 Donner Party discovered gold somewhere east of Springdale but no one knew where it was or how to get there so they camped around nightfall on October 24th 1840 while trying to find their way back home On January 15th 1850 two men named William Hill were driving cattle past Homestead when they spotted some dirt piles measuring about 8x10 feet off the ground west side road just south of current day Cottonwood Drive near milepost #2 on old USGS map ‍ After observing these strange formations they drove downrange to investigate more closely When they got there they found 4 large round holes each weighing about 6cwt each with 5 or 6 small ditches leading from them into adjacent hills surrounding this area ‍ After taking samples from these sites Samuel Colt began working on firearms at his new factory located west side across South Temple Street from what is now Jordan University Campus
