During World War I, many Utah veterans served in Europe with distinction; some became well-known representatives of their state in wartime violence such as Pfc John Wesley Powell (founder of the National Park Service) or Pvt Harry Truman (future president). After World War I ended, many new citizens migrated westward into Herriman and other areas along the Wasatch Front due to technological advancements such as automobiles and television; however, gun ownership remained high among these newcomers. In 1951, rifle stock manufacturer Hogue began making a new type of shotgun called an open-air stock which allowed shooters outdoors without fear of getting their hands dirty or losing grip on their weapon. This innovation led to a resurgence in firearm interest within Herriman over the next several decades until firearms production relocated southward following a fire at Hogue’s plant in 2000 that destroyed most all manufacturing capacity for shotguns in Utah Valley

Overall, Herriman is one of Utah's most vibrant communities with rich history that continues to make a positive impact on its residents today.
