From then on, the business grew rapidly and by 1922 it had become one of the largest retailers of binoculars in the area. Logan is a town in Logan County, Utah, United States. The population was 1,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Vernal–La Verne, UT Micropolitan Statistical Area. The original name for Logan was "Westville." Logan was founded on July 24, 1867 by George Waddell and his brother-in-law James Irvine as Westville. The name change came about because John Dallaire called the site "Wrightville" after General David Wright and other settlers in that area had similar names to those given to towns in nearby Carbon County. Logan developed around a small post office and store operated by J.M. Stephenson from 1868 until it closed in 1871 due to lack of customers or resources; however, Stephenson's descendants still operate a small general store there today known as Stephenson's Depot. A school opened at Logan on November 17th, 1870 which served the community until 1959 when it was replaced by Logan Elementary School which remains open today as one of the most active schools within the Vernal–La Verne Micropolitan Statistical Area (MSA). In 1902, residents of what is now Logan voted to incorporate and form a government with its own police department instead of working under county jurisdiction; this led to annexation by LaVerne in 1907 which gave Logan an estimated population of 507 during the 1910 census (the current estimate stands at 1,853). In 1916 voters approved Measure C which granted city rights over all land east of US 191 north of US 636 (thus annexing much older Cottonwood Heights neighborhood), making Logan an official city Limits municipality with its own police department and streetlights along Utes Street between I-15 and SR 89. Population growth allowed for more expansion into adjacent neighborhoods such as Cottonwood Heights – annexed again in 1922 – Sugarloaf – annexed in 1924 – Northdale – annexed in 1928 – Willowbrook Estates annexationannaite 1929; these annexations increased geographic diversity while also creating new commercial corridors through much of downtown Logan including Fourth Street corridor from west side Main Street southward to SR 89/I-15 junction then eastward all the way to Southcenter Boulevard/SR 189 intersection where business began developing along 4th Street corridor immediately south of I-15 junction (now Butler Boulevard) just southwest of main campus entrance providing easy access for businesses throughout downtown area not just those located near main campus entrance like prior decades when UtesStreet lined downtown arterial streets only accessible via facilities located inside main campus building like Stevenson's Depot lobby inside Main Campus Building since early 1960s when Butler Boulevard became arterial connecting downtown areas directly
