One of the earliest gun sights in Logan was a pair of 6in. revolvers mounted on posts outside the jail. This sight was used to target practice. In 1872, a new, larger jail was built and the guns were moved to that building. From then until 1903, there were no other changes to thegun sights in Logan.
Logan, Utah is a city in the U.S. state of Utah and the county seat of Logan County. The population was 97,545 at the 2010 census. It is located on the Wasatch Front about 25 miles (40 km) west of Salt Lake City and 15 miles (24 km) east of Provo. Logan is also adjacent to Cedar City, one of the most important Mormon settlements in history. Logan was founded by Laban Wendel Clark in 1847 as a small agricultural town on the edge of what is now Cache Valley. In 1850, it became part of battalion number Seventy-six under army general Joseph Smith during his march from Nauvoo to Winter Quarters near present-day Colorado Springs. Afterward, Logan became an eastern terminus for wagon trains that crossed the Great Plains en route to California and points east beyond; this trade continued until after Union troops burned Carbondale, Illinois in 1865. By 1870, Cache Valley had been abandoned for good due to overpopulation and lack of water resources; however, Wendel Clark continued to Norwegian survey and purchase land around what would become Logan from local Paiute tribesmen until his death in 1881 without any children or grandchildren accompanying him; he bequeathed all remaining land worth $2 million ($ when measured against current prices). The cornerstone for the first buildings at present day Logan Community College was laid by Mayor John Densmore on July 5th 1896 just three years after WendelClark's death – marking a turning point for rural Utah as its capital city began moving up hill with growing industry and commerce as well as new housing developments like Park Meadows (1901), Southridge (1902), Westside Towers (1904), Northridge (1945). Today’s downtown area was developed primarily during World War II when much manufacturing took place including aircraft production at nearby Midway Airport which continues today as Logan International Airport with international flights serving many destinations such as Bangkokia/Thailand Airways terminal building and terminals 1 through 4 which house Boeing 737s/738s operated by Thai Airways International Ltd., code: TAI Douglas DC-8 Mainliners operated by American Airlines Group Inc., codes: AAL & IAH both served out Terminal 2 prior to their closure following bankruptcy in 2009 but are currently being renovated into an IATA compliant airport called "DCA" In addition to its role as a major cultural center within Utah's Pioneer Day Parade corridor each year - home to America's only professional ice skaters - Assembling 8 Nationspipe Band annually features world renowned orchestras from aroundthe globe throughout late Fall/early winter culminating with a parade down State Street prior To Christmas Eve featuring approximately 20 bandshell concerts utilizing huge outdoor amphitheater configurations complete with LED lighting effects!
