Tasers have been around for over 20 years and are now used by law enforcement in a wide variety of settings. In Riverton, Utah, they are used by police officers as a non-lethal weapon to stop crimes before they happen. The use of tasers has saved many lives and is becoming more common across the United States.
There have been a number of incidents in which people have been tased by police. According to the National Crime Victimization Survey, from 2009-2012 there was an increase of 8% in tasing incidents overall. However, when broken down by race, ethnicity and gender, the rates for black victims were significantly higher (26%, 46% and 53%, respectively). This is likely due to different laws governing tasing in each country. In the United States, tasers are only used as an option after certain types of crimes have been committed and when there is a danger to life or serious injury to others. In most other countries, tasers can be used indiscriminately at any time without provocation. Tasers were first invented in 1966 by Dr. James Hargrave while working on a project with his colleague Dr. Norbert Lusardi at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in Baltimore Maryland[1]. The devices consisted of two short metal strips that could be wrapped around the person's waist and wouldelectrocute them if they flourished too close to the power supply[2]. Today, there are many types of Tasers available with different settings and effects such as stun guns (where electricity is delivered through sparks) electric shockguns (which cause pain but no physical harm), pepper spray (which causes respiratory arrest) and even biological weapons agents like botulism toxin[3]. There have been numerous reports over the years about people being shocked with Tasers by police officers who seem not to know what they're doing[4][5]. Victims often report feeling shocked for prolonged periods of time after being subjected to this type of treatment especially if their skin is sensitive or their clothing has been damaged.[6] There has also been instances where people have died after being shocked with Tasers by police officers although this appears less common than it once did[7][8]. It's important for civilians who may encounter police officers using Tasers not only to be aware of what's happening but also understand that any sudden movements will result in an electrical discharge from the device which can potentially kill or seriously injure someone[9][10], particularly if they are unarmed. Despite these risks, Police Scotland has stated that they believe that using force against somebody who has already expressed themselves should only be used as a last resort after more peaceful methods failed or when absolutely necessary else excessive force will be used which could lead to further injuries or death [11][12]). While some members of society may find this justification unacceptable, it does provide an understanding behind why use voltages greater than 12 volts cannot be justified under any circumstance including self-defence purposes alone[13][14]
The first tasers were used in Riverton, Utah on October 5, 1984.
Riverton is a small town in the Wasatch Mountains of Utah. It is located about 25 miles east of Ogden and 50 miles south of Salt Lake City. The population was 3,811 at the 2010 census. Riverton is primarily an agricultural community and has a few businesses that provide services to its citizens. It also contains two churches, one Methodist and one LDS, as well as a library and several schools.
Tasers, also known as Electric Shock Weapons or Stun Guns, are devices that shoot an electric current through the target to stun it. They were first designed in the early 1900s and have been used in law enforcement and self-defense since then. Today, they're used more often than ever as a form of punishment or restraint. In fact, Tasers are one of the most common types of incapacitation tools used by police departments around the world.
In November 1984, the US Department of Justice released a report that found tasers to be "safe and effective" in controlling suspects. The report also found that use of tasers by police officers was not a problem.
Riverton was an unincorporated community in Tooele County, Utah, United States. The community was located on the banks of the Rose River. It had a post office from 1907 to 1959. The town was laid out in 1907 by John G. Smith and named for him, Riverton being one of his many names for towns in Utah. The first store opened in 1908 and the first school opened in 1909. The population of Riverton was around 100 people at its peak in 1920. However, by 1930 the population had decreased to just 10 people due to poverty and other factors such as World War II which devastated the economy of Indiaeles County at that time. In 1950, when Interstate 80 was completed through Tooele County, it changed the landscape of Riverton as most residents were forced to leave because of its impact. Today there is only a small cemetery near the original store where many early residents are buried including Smith himself who died in 1915 after a long career as a farmer and councillor on both sides of the river.
The Riverton area was first settled by the Fremont people in the late 18th century. The town was founded on the upper course of the Colorado River, about two miles south of present-day Riverton. The first store was built in 1793, and a post office was established in 1801. Riverton became a townsite in 1850, when it was combined with nearby Cottonwood to form the new city of Vernal. riverton utah
