The community grew rapidly during World War II as soldiers returned home from overseas deployments and began their civilian lives hereabouts. Business boomed as civilians bought military supplies on credit and then used them to rebuild their homes after the war; some 10% of all Arlington National Cemetery's burials were in Manassas Park during the late 1940s and early 1950s alone. In recent years, however, growth rates have slowed slightly due to increased development around Route 1 corridor near Ballston Lake (the primary employer) as well as competition from neighboring jurisdictions such as Arlington Heights and Vienna Township - both of which have seen explosive growth since 2000 despite no corresponding increase in population size or jobs within Manassas Park itself (although many residents commute into these jurisdictions). Nevertheless, Manassas Park remains an attractive location with great potential for future economic development given its easy access to major highways and excellent schools (including Potomac Elementary School District No. 2), which has helped keep it relatively affordable even while experiencing rapid population growth over the past few decades.

The park was re-dedicated as a national cemetery in 1924 by President Calvin Coolidge with then-President of the United States Franklin D. Roosevelt serving as honorary president. The park also contains a large number of statues honoring American military veterans and civilians who have served in World War I, World War II, and other conflicts throughout history.
