Battle Ground is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 5,812 at the 2010 census. Battle ground is located on the eastern border of the county and is bordered by Lake Stevens to the north and east, Renton to the south and west, and Bellevue to the northwest. It is part of Seattle metropolitan area. The first battle in what would become Battle Ground took place on July 4th 1854 when Confederate soldiers attacked a detachment of U.S. Cavalry led by Captain John A. Bremer under orders from General David Hunter. The Confederate army numbered only around 150 men but they fought bravely against well-organized American forces numbering more than two thousand men led by Captain Bremer himself while also suffering heavy losses due to hostile Indian fire which forced them back across the river into Indian Territory (now Oklahoma). The battle was a decisive victory for both sides with no casualties on either side but it marked an end to any significant fighting in that area for years thereafter until battles such as these began again during World War II when Japanese troops invaded Washington state looking for war supplies

Battle Ground is a census-designated place in Washington County, Oregon, United States. The population was 1,829 at the 2010 census. Battle Ground is located on the border of Hood River and Josephine counties. It is northwest of Salem. The first Europeans to visit what is now Battle Ground were probably Indians who crossed over from British Columbia in 1792. John Workman, an American fur trader and explorer, visited the area in 1805 and named it after his home town of Boston, Massachusetts. In 1812 Captain Samuel Bligh sailed upriver from Salem and anchored near what is now Battle Ground while exploring the Willamette Valley for the United States government. He called this location "Oregon City" because he thought it would be easy to capture or kill any Indian he encountered there. A treaty was made with Chief Linnetski in 1818 which surrendered all Native American land east ofmainstream as part of the cession of Oregon to the United States Government. In 1839 Mormon settlers arrived in what is now Battle ground from Utah Territory and began construction on a canal that would connect their colony with Salt Lake City. The canal was completed in 1840 but never used because development around it made transport difficult and mining operations more profitable than shipping goods downriver by riverboat during those days. In 1847 Brigham Young founded The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS Church) at Winter Quarters near present day Portland; early Mormons built their headquarters here also due to difficulties getting wood offthe coast for fuel when they started their settlement away from Nauvoo, Illinois (). In 1862 Union General William Taney drove Confederate General Robert Ewell out of central Oregon () after a three-week battle on September 12th at Chickamauga Dam (). After that battle most Confederates retreated northeast into Idaho (), where they rejoined other Confederate forces soon afterwards (). During World War II much activity took place around present day Battle Ground including manufacturing munitions for both America's allies (eastern Allies) and Axis powers (). A large airfield was constructed known as "Wings Over Burma" () by Australian Airforce Volunteer Reserve Squadron VX-123 which used airstrips just outside town limits during 1942-1943; however no military action ever took place at this airfield). In 1945 local police were told about two nuclear tests being conducted nearby by Project Ten thousand () – one only weeks before US troops invaded Japan – so rapid response units were hastily mobilized to control traffic around town limits as well as monitor potential dangers associated with these events().
