This allowed people all over Puget Sound to enjoy shooting at targets at various locations including lakeside parks, forests, open fields and more! Bellingham, Washington is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 25,651 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of King County and one of the largest cities in Western Washington. The name "Bellingham" originated from the word "belly" which referred to its fertile soil and abundance of waterfowl. The first Europeans to visit what is now Bellingham were members of the Northwest Company who landed on December 21, 1792 on Kodiak Island during their expedition under Captain John Meares. In 1824, Governor Cushman authorized surveyors to map out a town site for Bellingham Township (now part of King County). The first post office was established in 1827. A ferry connected downtown with Bothell on Lake Union and ferries transported goods between Bellingham and Olympia until 1952 when Interstate 5 replaced them. Bellingham has been home to America's first university and college - nearby Washburn University opened its doors in 1865 - as well as many other businesses and organizations including Boeing Co., Microsoft Corp., Amazon Web Services Inc., Google Inc., Costco Wholesale Club, Pacific Gas & Electric Company, Starbucks Coffee Roasters LLC, Mount Baker Ski Resort LLC and KeyArena Stadium/Wisdom Health Arena

Bellingham is a small town in the U.S. state of Washington, close to the Canadian border. It is located on the north bank of the Salmon River and was founded in 1865 by settlers from England. The population was 16,905 at the 2010 census. The first permanent European settler in what would become Bellingham was John Latham, who arrived with his family in 1825 from Norfolk, England. He started a flour mill and also raised chickens and calves for meat. In 1826 he built a log cabin on a bluff overlooking the river; it still stands today as part of Bellingham's downtown district. A year later he married Maria Stroud and they moved into their present home on 128th Street NW in 1828. In 1847 George Stephenson built an engine factory here to make locomotives for Union Pacific Railroad (UP). The factory produced over 100 locomotives during its heyday between 1850 and 1870, but it closed down due to competition from other manufacturers. AfterUMR left Bellingham for good in 1970, most of those locomotive parts were donated to Washington State Railway Museum where they are now displayed along with other locomotive artifacts
The first white American resident in Bellingham was John White, who arrived in 1792. The area became part of the United States in 1846. The city was incorporated on December 1, 1860.
