The history of ammunition in Des Moines, Washington dates back to the early 1800s. The first firearms in this small town were muzzleloaders and pistols. There was a gunsmith on High Street that made and sold Firearms from 1814-1820. Ammunition was also available from local farmers. In 1829, a store was started on Fourth Street by J. G. Brown and H. Latham which became the most important business in Des Moines at that time because it offered Reloading Supplies as well as Guns, Ammo, Cartridge & Shot for sale. In 1834, A & S Co., Retail Gun merchants located at Third and Market Streets opened their doors with 12 guns on the premises including two pistols and six rifle stocks each side of the door handle! It was said that these stores were some of the earliest in this area! The late 1800s saw an increase in ammo production due to advances in technology and World War I (1914-1918). Ammunition production increased rapidly after World War I until 1926 when it peaked with 1 million rounds being produced annually!!!!! This pace continued into the 1920s but then slowly decreased until its current level of around 100,000 rounds per year!!!! Ammunition production is still increasing today due to advances in technology and world war II (1939-1945). After World War II there was an increase in ammo demand due to tensions between America and Europe over arms control issues. Ammunition production increased rapidly until 1965 when it reached its current level!!!

Des Moines, Washington is a city in the U.S. state of Washington. The population was 48,824 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Spokane metropolitan area and is located on the Des Moines River. The first permanent settler in what would become Des Moines was Capt. John Walsh in 1854. He founded a post office and named it for his home town of Dublin, Ireland. In 1857, Stephen Alder erected the first store and mill on present-day Iowa Avenue in downtown Des Moines; this location served as the nucleus for much of what would become Des Moines over time. As early as 1871, several buildings were built on Ames Street near East Market Street to serve as stores and hotels for traders coming through Sioux City during the Dakota Gold Rush boom period that followed American settlement of Canada in the mid-19th century; these structures still stand today (see photo). In 1893, George Fenton opened a grocery store at First National Bank Building on West Third Street which became one of early Nebraska banks with branches across America; this building still stands today (see photo). A cattle drive from Fort Kearny led to establishment of Waco Ranch by James Reese Walker in 1907 along present day I-90 southbound exit 5/6B just east of Interstate 95 junction; this ranch grew into one of North America's largest ranches with more than 8 million head Of beef animals at its peak (see photo). Waco was purchased by The Coca Cola Company in 1915 who renamed it "Coca-Cola" after their new bottlers plant located adjacent to Waco Ranch (the original site now occupied by Mountain View Safeway). In 1922 when Des Moines acquired its current name from then Mayor George Hennepin, Coke discontinued operations there due to competition from Pepsi Cola firms then based out of Wichita and Omaha respectively. One such development during this time period was Ladd's Hardware Store which opened within walking distance soon afterwards on First Avenue west side opposite KFC fast food restaurant now known as Hardee's hamburger place chain HQ & Grill situated at 421 NNW 2nd St Ste 105; see photo below left & right - this hardware store also enjoyed some notoriety for being one half way up an apartment complex conversion project leading up to its opening which caused many controversies both inside and outside the city limits!(See also: Photos taken during local History Day Events held throughout October 2018) After years languishing under inactive ownership until it reopened following significant renovation & investment back in 2016 - Ladd's Hardware has since regained much love & respect among locals once again!

By 1800 AD however riflefire had become prevalent on battlefields all over Europe so artillery pieces were gradually phased out of combat until World War I when they re-emerged once again with great impact during the hostilities between Germany and Austria-Hungary
