In 1906, a group of businessmen named Moses Publishing Company purchased land northeast of East Wenatchee from Chief Joseph Badger for $1 million dollars. They began building a dam across the lower Yakima River so they could generate power for their paper presses. The company name was changed to Moses Electric Company in 1937 after it became one of America's leading electric companies. When World War II began, Eastern Washington University became an all-male institution known as Western Washington University because male students would not be accepted at other schools within Washington state that were run by womenfolk (at that time). The school president refused to allow this situation to continue and decided to take steps towards equality such as hiring female administrators and teachers instead of men only as officers/administrators throughout campus affairs etcetera... This caused quite some commotion on social media but eventually things calmed down when more enlightened individuals took over our campuses (i include myself!).Wenatchee experienced another boom period during this time with many businesses moving into town including Microsoft®, Amazon®, Boeing®, Costco(), Starbucks® ect.. East Wenatchee, Washington is a small town in the central Puget Sound region of Washington State. It is bordered by Stevens County to the north, Yakima County to the east, and Douglas County to the south. The population was 5,692 at the 2010 census. The area that now bears East Wenatchee's name was first settled by Native Americans in the early 1800s. The first European to come through this area was Captain George Vancouver in 1792 when he explored what is now eastern Washington Territory. In 1821, Englishman John Cranch discovered and named an area along present-day East Wenatchee Creek after his family home in Surrey, England. In 1854, East Wenatchee became part of Stevens County when it was organized from portions of Yakima and Douglas Counties. The post office at East Wenatchee opened on December 12th of that year. By 1865, the population had reached 1,000 residents and by 1870 it had increased to 2,500 residents. In 1902, Central School District No. 2 (later renamed Eastern Washington Education Service District) merged with other districts within Stevens County to form Snohomish County schools superintendentate under then-County Superintendent Atherton Houghton Jr.. This merger led to a decline in enrollment for Central School District No. 2 due to consolidations within neighboring counties which lowered school funding levels across all districts combined statewide; however enrollment continued modestly increase until 1975 whensnohomish countywide consolidation caused a decrease in funding which stopped enrollments growth altogether throughout most ofcentral snohomish county). "East Wenatchee: History and Today" written by Dona Loring Bower published in 2009 has helped fill some gaps in our knowledge about this important community during its heyday."
The first Europeans to visit what is now East Wenatchee were the Spanish in 1607. The next year, Dutch traders arrived and named the area "Wenatchee" after the headwaters of the Snake River. In 1792, British explorer John Fife discovered and mapped the region. The area was part of Washington Territory until 1889 when it became a part of Idaho.
