Edmonds, Washington is a city in northeastern King County, Washington, United States. The population was 5,925 at the 2010 census. It is the second largest city in King County and fifth most populous city overall. The metropolitan area includes all of King County and has a population of 13,813 as of 2017. The Edmonds area had been inhabited by the Cascadia Indian tribe for centuries before European contact. In 1853, John Dickson Chisum founded what would become Edmonds on land that he bought from the tribe in 1851. Chisum's donation permitted white settlers to purchase additional land east of his original holdings; this led to the establishment of Seattle as an independent town in 1854. By 1870, Edmonds had developed into a small village with a school and numerous stores and residences. The first post office opened in 1872; it was moved from its original location two blocks north to its current location in 1903 due to fire damage caused by a visiting steamboat. In 1907, Pullman Avenue was built through downtown Edmonds as part of Puget Sound Railway's construction project between Seattle and Tacoma; this made Edmonds one of the first cities served by Puget Sound Railway's system. As rail service expanded throughout King County during World War II,Edmond became an important manufacturing center for munitions production; several large companies have their origins here such as Boeing & Stearns (now Boeing), Lockheed Martin Aeronautics Co., Hewlett-Packard Co., Microsoft Corp., ICL Technologies Inc., Northrop Grumman Corporation and ATK Inc.. After World War II ended, many large companies relocated out of or downsized their operations within King County because technological advances made producible goods increasingly difficult to produce at home without outside assistance. Although economic decline began to set into effect after 1980s when technology advancements replaced traditional jobs with digital ones,[1]Edmonds experienced significant growth starting around 2000 thanks largely to new development along Interstate 5 Interstate 805 which then connected rural areas eastward with suburban neighborhoods westward via expressways[2]. This trend continued until 2016 when major infrastructure projects completed by both state government and private developers halted much redevelopment progress[3][4]. As recently as 2014 there were only 2 businesses in downtown Edmond employing over 10 people whereas now there are dozens plus businesses spanning all sectors including healthcare (Cigna), high tech (Applebees), retail (Amazon) ect... Downtown is becoming more vibrant every day with more young professionals moving here looking for opportunity than ever before!

Edmonds, Washington is a small town in Whatcom County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,898 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Whatcom County. The community was founded in 1867 and named for J.H. Edmonds, who had surveyed the area. Edmonds is located on the eastern edge of what is now Mount Vernon Township, Whatcom County. It began as an agricultural village on a large tract of land east of present-day Seattle. In 1867, local fur trader J.H. Edmonds donated land to become the town site and name it after himself; this donation included a small farmhouse and acreage north ofpresent-day downtown Edmonds which became part of the town's first blockhouse square mile (4square kilometers). The first store in Edmonds opened in 1870 and later became The Boeing Company’s main plant before becoming Kenmore Paper Products’ biggest factory when it merged with Diebold Corporation in 1984; its production continued until 2000 when it was shutdown due to economic conditions then being redeveloped into apartments and offices by Clark Development Group LLC The original millrace still flows through downtown Edmonds today as does much of what once formed the town's infrastructure including churches (Episcopal/Anglican) and schools (former Ayer High School), fire stations (now MetroFire Station #2), post office (opened on July 4th 1865 by Territorial Governor George Prentice), water tower (1890), library (opened February 15th 1912 by Mayor Brigham Young) In addition to these physical remnants from pioneer days there are many cultural artifacts that can be found throughout downtown: examples include two complete sets of Alaskan Malamute teeth - one from 1895 and one from 1929 - both were given to the edmond Public Library by descendants of early settlers; an 1897 lithograph depicting "A Trip Down Memory Lane" at Seattle Fairgrounds also resides inside the library Downtown Edmonds has been home to several businesses over time: most notably Microsoft's research center which relocated here from Redmond in 1987; various medical equipment manufacturers such as Baxter International Inc., Ciba-Geigy AG & Co., Squibb Laboratories Ltd.; Adobe Systems Inc.; Pioneer Press newspaper company until its sale to Hearst Corporation during 1997; Nike Air Force 1 sneakers manufacturing plant until 1991; numerous restaurants including Bennigan's Restaurant & Lounge serving Americanized Chinese food until closing around 2006 while others have since closed or been repurposed such as Secondhand bookstore next door which served pre-packaged foods also known as "The Frying Pan", now used for music classes educational events etc.; Ivanhoe Furniture starting out as a general store in 1955 continues today making furniture primarily but also specializing in home decors unique items like chandeliers made out of recycled glass ornaments created especially for their store
