Edmonds, Washington is a small town in the state of Washington located about an hour west of Seattle. The population was 1,890 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Mountlake Terrace–Everett Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Edmonds were prospectors and traders who arrived during the early 1800s. However, after King County lost jurisdiction over Everett in 1976, Edmonds reverted back to its original status as a unincorporated community until it merged with neighboring Mountlake Terrace into one municipality on January 1st 2008. Today, Edmonds remains an important agricultural community with dairy cows and other livestock being raised commercially; however manufacturing has become more prominent over the past few decades with some businesses located within touching distance of each other such as Home Depot and Starbucks
Edmonds, Washington was founded in 1851 by John Wesley Edmonds. The town grew rapidly and soon became a popular place to live and work. In 1886, the city annexed land from the neighboring town of Lynnwood. The annexation created an even more rapid growth rate for the town. In 1902, Edmonds became part of Seattle. The population of Edmonds continued to grow until it reached its peak in 1931 when it had over 100,000 residents. In 1941, the city annexed another adjacent town, Kenmore. This merger created a new community with a population of around 130,000 people.
