Bellevue Township's first school opened in 1903 with 10 students; it was originally an all-girls school named Bellevue Female Institute which operated until 1957 when it became part of the newly formed Fort Lewis Union School District (FORDISD). In 1954 FORDISD merged with Elkhart County to form Thurston County and Bellevue Township ceased to exist as an entity within Thurston County government; however, portions of Bellevue Township still exists within Elkhart County government today under the jurisdiction of Goldendale Elementary School District #2(GEDSD2). In 1970 Fordsisd merged into Thurston County again to create Spokane City Schools but much of Bellevue Township remains within Spokane City Schools boundaries to this day as part of Community schools #1C & #2A . Ellensburg is a city in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. The population was 35,546 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Kitsap County. The first people to inhabit what is now Ellensburg were the Nisqually people who lived on the upper Payette River and its tributaries. The first European settlers were white men from British Columbia who arrived in 1853 and homesteaded near present-day downtown Ellensburg on land that was part of the Stevens Indian Reservation. A post office called "Eden" was established in 1855, and until 1889 it served portions of both Kitsap and Pierce counties. The area around present-day downtownEllensburg was settled by American Indians in several stages over many years during what is known as the Puget Sound Fur Trade Period (1792–1851). In 1792, Captain George Vancouver sailed downriver from Sitka Bay loaded with fur seals for King George III of Great Britain. He named his new trading post at Dutch Harbor after Lord Ellesburgh, one of his assistants on this trip. The first permanent settler in what is now Ellensburg was Nicholas Casey who built a cabin on land that he claimed along with fellow fur traders John Jacob Astor and Elias Howe about 1807 near present-day Third Street SW and First Avenue NE. Casey had previously traveled through this area while exploring Puget Sound for Russian explorer Alexei Putyakov in 1784/85 when he discovered Wallula Island off today's Olympia Peninsula; later settlement occurred here because Casey could find no other place to trade seal pelts due to continued Russian expansion into northwest Alaska throughout most of the 19th century… For most of these early settlers there was littleermanent goodbyes since they would move backandforth across country constantly seeking new soil or hunting opportunities during these harsh times without any permanent homes or possessions…. Many local residents still live within walking distance today including many descendantsof those pioneer families! In 1875, two brothers named George Stephenson founded Cascadia Power Company which erected electric lights along much of Seattle’s waterfront using power generated by their Cascade Hydroelectric Plant just outside town limits (now Pioneer Square). In 1907 Stephenson donated land east of Main Street NW between Second Avenue NE and Fourth Avenue NW to form what is now Pratt University; this donation remains one reason why Pratt University has its current campus location near EastMain Street NE & NW instead of downtownEllensburg which would have necessitated building a completely new campus on expensive real estate adjacent to some world-renowned museums like Mount Rainier National Park! Many important civic institutions such as City Hall (opened 1905), Library (opened 1908), Police Department (1909), Hospital (1910) & Fire Department(1920) sprang up during this time including: Tacoma High School football team which played their first game in 1911 against Westfield High School; Statewide Toll Roads Authority which developed routes 509 & 527 across central Washington; Seattle Symphony Orchestra which began playing concerts atSeattle Pacific Music Hall in 1951; Kittitas Valley Agricultural Experiment Station located6 miles northwestof town where pioneering farmers did experiments with growing various typesOf crops etc.; Our Lady Of Peace elementary school also openedduringthistime Thanks To Mr Geo Stephenson! During World War II almost all production stopped atCascade Hydroelectric Plant leaving only engineering workers behind to maintain plant; plant reopened following war but remained shuttered until 1959 when it finally went onlinegenerating electricity solely for public use!
