Everett, Washington is a town in the U.S. state of Washington near Puget Sound. As of the 2010 census, Everett had a population of 44,902. The name "Everett" was chosen by Captain John Waddell and his wife Mary due to their observation that the surrounding countryside looked like someone's farmhouse with "a big white house in the middle." In 2000, voters passed Initiative 594 (the “EverettWA” campaign finance reform measure), which allowed for direct election of village trustees rather than individual county commissioners from within each village limits – giving more power to village inhabitants over county commissioners who were appointed by county officials. This change increased accountability and transparency among village officials while reducing corruption and venality among elected representatives from rural villages across King County; indeed, many Everett villagers have become leading advocates forVillage Democracy movements around the country since passage of I-594. Today's Everett is home to some 30 businesses employing almost 700 people spanning manufacturing, services/income security/administrative support roles (law enforcement/firefighting/building materials), retail trade (food processing/grocery store operations), information technology (web development services), health care (not-for-profit hospitals) and various other sectors including education (through independent schools) and natural resources (livestock). With over $100 million in economic activity generated annually statewide through both private sector jobs as well as government contracts awarded through Federal Racehorse Development Program funding - including major construction projects such as Interstate 5 expansion - Everett is poised for continued growth into into 2020 or beyond

Everett is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 9,521 at the 2010 census. Everett is part of the Seattle-Tacoma metropolitan area. The first settlers in what would become Everett arrived in 1847 from Illinois. They were led by John A. Snyder and built a log cabin on the east side of Elliott Bay where they farmed until 1853 when they began to pioneer northward into what would become Everett. In 1865, they founded the town of Shelton along Puget Sound and named it after their friend and neighbor Ebenezer Shelton Jr.. In 1898, Everett was incorporated as a municipality with a population of 6,700 people; its first mayor was Wm Halsey Smith. The post office operated until 1959 and then it became the Everett Post Office Museum which still operates today. In 1962, Boeing Aeronautics Corporation moved its operations to Everett from Bellevue due to an impending recession that struck America hard that year; for many years after that time Boeing considered itself an "Everett company" rather than just an airplane manufacturer. However since 2007 Boeing has made decisions not to move any new production facilities out of state but instead consolidate them inWashington State's Spokane County near Tacoma so as not to impact growth there or elsewhere within King County (comprising some 8 million people) . The community grew rapidly during World War II due in part to military housing projects put up by Navy Yard developer Harry Levin: between 1942 and 1945 about 1,000 houses were built on land donated by local farmers using Portofino money given as gifts from Italian Vichy French allies following World War II (the Housing Authority project also attracted white refugees who had fled Nazi Germany). Now largely gone because of suburbanization and redevelopment over the past few decades Crime rates have declined while quality of life has increased although some large issues remain such as high poverty rates among minority groups
Everett was founded in 1792 by Captain George Everett and his wife, Lydia. The city developed rapidly with many new businesses opening up during the early 1800s. In 1836, Everett became the first incorporated town in Washington Territory. The following year, the Territorial Legislature passed a bill creating a government for the territory which would be headed by a governor and three commissioners. Everett quickly gained recognition as an important center of commerce and politics within Washington Territory. By 1840, Everett had become known as "the Athens of the Northwest." During the late 1800s and early 1900s, Everett experienced significant growth due to its importance as an agricultural center and its close proximity to Seattle. However, World War I devastatingly disrupted the local economy and forced many people out of their homes. After World War II ended, Everett began to experience rapid growth once again thanks to various economic development initiatives including several high-tech companies that were established in the area over time. Today, Everett is considered one of Washington's most thriving cities with ample opportunities for both residents and businesses alike.
