It is with great sadness that we report the passing of a member of the Lacey community, Mrs. Jeanne Woods. Jeanne was a dedicated gun owner and collector who loved spending time at her gun shop, Trigger Time Firearms, in rural Lacey. Jeanne was also an avid hunter and bird enthusiast. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Gun triggers are devices that allow the shooter to cock the gun by depressing a small, metal object against the trigger. Trigger mechanisms vary in design and are sometimes referred to as "triggermen." Trigger mechanisms can be manual or electronic. Manual trigger mechanisms usually rely on pressure from one hand to engage the sear, while electronic trigger mechanisms use an input device (such as a touch screen) to cycle through various firing positions. Manual triggers work best when used in conjunction with stocks that have a wide enough opening for the trigger finger to reach the sear without having to remove it from its location on the stock. Electronic trigger mechanism systems require stocks with specific contours that must be met before operation can commence, and many rifles now come standard with both manual and electronic triggers.

Gun triggers (trigger mechanisms) are devices that operate the firearms of modern times. Trigger mechanisms vary in their design, and can include both electric and manual controls. The first trigger mechanism to be used with firearms was the musket, which employed a foot-operated cocking system. In 1892, John Brown/John Moses Brown designed and patented a device which became known as the Browning Automatic Rifle Trigger. This trigger mechanism featured an off-center cocking breechblock that allowed for selective fire without having to pull the trigger multiple times. In 1949, Harry Blackman developed a similar system using a plunger block instead of a cocking breechblock. This type of trigger was eventually replaced by the current infantry rifle grenade launcher hammer system in 1982.
The first firearms were simple stocks with triggers that pulled the firearm back an inch or two to fire a round. The trigger pull was so strong that it required a person to use both hands to hold onto the stock and pull the trigger.
Lacey is a town in Skagit County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,801 at the 2010 census. Lacey was named after Lacey Creek. The post office was first established in 1855 and discontinued in 1893. It reopened in 1905. The community of Lacey began as a small log cabin settlement on the eastern edge of present-day Lacey Township on the east side of Clearwater Creek from where settlers would harvest timber to sell upstream. In 1855, two brothers, John and Michael Dorsey founded what became known as the Dorsey–Lacey Settlement which extended into present day Skagit County along Clearwater Creek. The first post office for Lacey was established on October 3, 1855 by Wm Henson with the name "Lacke". It served until 1893 when it changed to "Lacey". In 1905, the post office moved from its original location downriver to an existing mill on the site now occupied by First Baptist Church (now part of Stonington Elementary School). The building still stands and is used as a church parsonage today. In 1915, when Snohomish County became organized via an act of Congress, Lacey incorporated as a village through an act of county commissioners only one year after becoming a town within Snohomish County! A referendum passed by residents in November 1916 resulted in incorporation into Skagit County rather than continue under Snohomish County jurisdiction; this decision has been cited as one reason whySkagit Counties have enjoyed more recent growth rates than other counties within Washington state since their incorporation into county government over 100 years ago!
Lacey was first settled in 1855 by the Lacey family. The town is named for Lacey Creek, which originates in the area. The Laceys were pioneers who founded the community and built a log cabin on their property. They were the first people to reside in Lacey and it has been said that they are responsible for its name.
