Lacey, Washington is a small town located in the Yakima Valley in Western Washington. The population was 1,816 at the 2000 census. Lacey is home to two schools and one business district. The town's first school was built in 1877 and it has been used as a meeting place for the local farmers since then. The town's first laser sight was manufactured by an American company named Radiation Technology Corporation in 1984. That same year, Lacey started using lasers to target targets on ranges across the United States. Today, Laser Sighting Centers are common in Lacey and many of these businesses offer services such as target practice or laser tag games. Lacey is a small town in central Washington state, United States. It is the county seat of Lacey County. The population was 5,592 at the 2010 census. The name "Lacey" is thought to be derived from early Native American words meaning "place where the salmon run." The first permanent settler in what became Lacey was J.T. Haggerty in 1859. He built a cabin on the north side of the Butte River near present day Lacey High School before moving to what is now downtown Lacey in 1861. In 1865, John Sweeny founded Sweeny's Mill onButte River and developed it into a large flouring mill that processed both extralabel and local wheat until World War II when it switched to making ammunition for the war effort. In 1912, Averill Harriman donated land for what would become Central Washington State Normal School (later Central Washington University). The school began instruction in 1913 with twelve students and graduated its first class of twenty-one students in 1916. The college moved to its current location on SW First Street in 1918 and opened its doors to full enrollment as Northwest State Teachers College. In 1933, NWSTC became WSU when WASHINGTON STATE UNIVERSITY (nowWashington State University) was established adjacent toNWSTC by an act of the Territorial Legislature pursuant to authorization granted by Congress under law No., 85th Cong., 1st sess.. On July 1, 1959 WSU merged with STANFORD UNIVERSITY (nowStanford University) as part of a larger university system which included four other universities: UCLA, USC, Oregon St., and Washburn Univ.. After years of growth at Stanford University culminating with construction of new buildings on campus including one called Sproul Hall which housed many student residences and administrative offices such as building 11A which still stands today - Stanford consolidated all its educational activities within one main campus - dubbed "The Farm" - until 1945 when separate campuses were created for Women's Studies and for Depression-era Veterans Affairs research programs... Today there are more than 60 undergraduate departments/colleges at Stanford University alone... During World War IIstanford served as an important center for Japanese cultural studies due to wartime restrictions placed upon American universities by President Franklin D Roosevelt who believed that any unnecessary cooperation with Japan would compromise America's security interests overseas... One significant product resulting from this center activity was the book "Japan Quarterly" which was published during World War II by Princeton University Press
Lacey, Washington is a small town in the Yakima Valley of central Washington. According to the 2010 census, the population was 9,874. It is part of the Yakima County seat of Walla Walla and the unincorporated community of Lacey lies within the town limits. The name "Lacey" is derived from the Malaspina word Lenape which means 'west side'. The first European to visit Lacey was Captain James Cook in 1792 when he explored what is now Yakima Valley. He named it after Louisa May Alcott's novel "Little Women". In 1836, Colonel George A. Smith founded a ranch here that became one of America's largest sheep ranches. In 1906, Lacey became an incorporated town with a school, post office and two stores. The first store was built on Main Street and opened by Wm C. Horsfall Sr., who also operated a sawmill and gristmill here. In World War II, many people worked at Boeing factory in Puget Sound and took care of aircraft production during wartime boom times; most notably Jurgen Kluge who designed or co-designed nine Boeing 707s for Northwest Airlines between 1948-1951 as well as four Douglas DC-3s for American Airlines between 1950-1953; these planes were redesignated NWA Dash 8s after Northwest merged with United Airlines in 1968). It was not until 1990 when Lacey had its first primary school building (grades 1-12) which replaced an old barn that served as their only educational facility until then! Today there are six elementary schools (grades K-6), three middle schools (grades 7-9), one high school ( grades 10-12) and one adult education center serving students from approximately 550 residents statewide!
