In 1870, Congress passed a bill authorizing the construction of a railroad across Columbia River Gorge. This helped bring people and industry to Longview. The town was incorporated on May 9th, 1871. The town had a population of only 100 people but it quickly became an important location for trade and commerce. By 1934, Longview had a total population of over 30,000 people! Today, Longview is one of the most economically prosperous towns in Washington State!

Longview is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,829 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The first people to live in Longview were Native American tribes who roamed the area for hunting and fishing. In 1856, General Nelson A. Miles purchased land near present-day Longview from the Puyallup Tribe and built a small log cabin there as his home. In 1861, when Washington state became a U.S. state, Longview became its capital and served as its seat until 1883 when it was moved to Olympia. The first post office was established at Longview in 1868; it continued service until 1901. In 1907, George Earle bought 4 miles (6 km) of Jefferson Road east of Longview from John Day Coeur d'Alene Indian tribe and developed what would become known as Earle's Valley into an agricultural community that included fruits, vegetables, dairy products, lumber mills and other businesses spanning several blocks northwest of downtown Longview today. This region would be called "Earles Valley" until 1959 when it was renamed "Longwood". On July 26th 1908 Shorty Higgins leased 3 acres (1 km²) of land southeast of present-day Longmore Avenue from Myron Sorenson for $45 per year with no option to purchase it because he never paid off his initial investment within 12 months – this event is commonly referred to as "The Lease." Higgins also erected a sod house on the lot which still stands today next to Interstate 5 just south of Highway 99W between US 98E/Route 410 and CenturyLink Field east of Safeco Field Northwest). On August 14th 1908 Willard Henson leased 3 acres (1 km²) north of Present-day Swartz Creek from Lyman Buell for $25 per year with no option to purchase it because he never paid back his original investment within 12 months either – this event is commonly referred to as "The Lease." In 1912 Harry Cramer purchased 2½ acres (0.9 ha) northeast of present day Swartz Creek from Lyman Buell for $15 per year with no option to purchase it because he never paid back his initial investment within 12 months either – this event is commonly referred to as "The Lease." During World War I many local businesses produced munitions including Boeing Aircraft manufacturer Puget Sound Naval Shipyard whose production stopped during the war due primarily to lack of war materials but resumed after the armistice ended thanks largely to Guggenheim funded research by representatives from Boeing Aircraft Company that eventually led directly theretoin! The War Memorial Building located on NE Fourth Street commemorates these wartime endeavors along with numerous other local endeavors such as bridge building programs donations given by Tacoma Shipyards president Dave Greenwood & vice versa through Friends Of Puget Sound

The town was platted in 1875 by George W. Long, who named it for his older brother's home on the banks of the Clearwater River. The Long family operated a sawmill and gristmill until 1901. In 1916, the Long Bridge connecting Longview to nearby Everett was built; it remains one of King County's most distinctive landmarks. In 1924, a group of businessmen founded what would become Microsoft Corporation in Bellevue; Shortridge served as its first president and CEO.Microsoft grew rapidly within Bellevue and soon opened its first office there in 1975; by 2000, over 50% of all Microsoft employees were located there. Over time, other major companies have relocated to or moved into Bellevue including Amazon (2006), Facebook (2007), Google (2009), Apple (2011), Netflix (2015), Boeing (2018). Today, Bellevue–King County is home to over 100 businesses employing over 3,000 people and continues to grow with new development announced monthly throughout 2018 alone!
