Lynden, Washington is home to the Mount Vernon Museum and Sculpture Park. The city was founded in 1851 by General George Armstrong Custer, who was also the founder of the United States Military Academy at West Point. The Lynden Observatory was founded in 1887 by Dr. George Armstrong Condon and his wife, Mrs. Alice Payne-Cook. The original building was a log cabin on the edge of town, and it operated from 1887 until 1914 when it was replaced by a more modern structure. In 1915, the Lynden Observatory became part of the Mount Rainier National Park system and continued to operate as part of that system until 1978 when it became an independent organization known as the Mount Rainier Amateur Radio Service (MARSS). MARSS operates out of the Lynden Observatory from its main building which is located adjacent to the town square.

Lynden is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 3,447 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. Lynden is located on the eastern-most edge of Lake Washington and it straddles its border with Soundview to the west. That year saw some heavy development in Lynden as people started moving into newly built homes along Puget Sound or into small villages near Everett and North Bend before finding jobs in nearby towns such as Lynnwood or Bellevue during World War I and later during World War II when GE produced military hardware for America's allies (eastern Europe being a major focus). Since 2000, Lynden has been home to many businesses which have drawn workers away from more suburban areas around Seattle – including restaurants like Benaroya Hall which opened up in 2002 adjacent to Husky Stadium where Microsoft played its final game before moving out.; other businesses include Jardine Research Laboratory which came online in 2006 adjacent to Boeing Field; Evergreen Methanol Company which opened up in 2007 next door to Safeco Field; and Sonic Solutions LLC which opened up along First Avenue NE just north of Interstate 5 about half a mile from Amazon’s fulfillment center soon after HQ2 moved into Building 8 (now Apple Park) there in 2017.
