A major attraction for tourists is the Okanogan National Forest located just north of town on State Route 99W. Other attractions include historical sites such as Old Mill Creek Museum near downtown and Pioneer Village off Interstate 5 south of town; Mount Baker National Park located to the northeast; Lake Union which offers numerous water sports;the nearby Issaquah Cascades which offer many hikes and scenic drives;and Wahkiakum Lake which provides fishing opportunities for both novice anglers and experts alike

Marysville is a small town in Washington County, Oregon, United States. The population was 3,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Bend–Norman, Oregon Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settlers in Marysville were Friends who arrived around 1859. They built a log cabin on the east side of the Butte River. The Friends settlement was abandoned by 1876 because of railroad development and its proximity to Portland. A new settlement was founded in 1870 by Methodist missionaries named John Wesley Hill and his wife Susan Crosby. The Hillites erected a large cabin on what is now North Main Street. On October 8, 1870, they had their first child, Sarah Jane Hill (born October 15). From this point onward until 1863 when they moved to Salem due to persecution from Methodists in that state for practicing polygamy (Sarah Jane married three times), theHillites lived at Marysville with their children and servants while they awaited news of their parents' release from prison in California. In 1872-75 an act of Congress called for all Mormons within two days travel westward along the Oregon Trail to be destroyed or driven out before Christmas; however only about 400 men and boys volunteered to leave Utah Valley Territory instead of going into exile. Of these 500 or so pioneer families only 20% made it to Canada where they would be absorbed into other Mormon groups such as the Hyrum Grant group which settled near Calgary Alberta later that year; most returned Southwestern United States including Marysville where they began construction on what became one of America's tallest wooden churches - First Congregational Church (1883) - measuring 553 feet high and topped with an octagon dome! After preaching for several months each year at First Congregational Church starting in 1878 Rev C D Howe became pastor November 1st 1880 when Rev W L MacKenzie resigned after 2 years service due health concerns he contracted from mining operations on Butte River northwest of town In 1888 Second Congregational church burned down but soon rebuilt same height as original despite predictions it would not stand long due strong winds & fire Third Congregational church completed 1865 replaced second structure which caught fire July 6th 1865 just before dedication ceremony Reverend G F Spalding officiated & included Mrs G F Spalding mother also among congregation who attended services there until her death December 12th 1890 . After 1840 much evangelical activity took place here led by George Harvey who organized Sunday schools & Ladies Bible Society while living here also helped found Presbyterian Reformed Church 1907

The town grew rapidly after the discovery of gold in the area, and by 1865 it had a population of over 100 people. In 1870, Marysville became the capital of Washington Territory, and soon afterwards developed into a major center for agriculture and commerce. By 1890, Marysville had become an important stop on the Pacific Railroad, and its economy was based largely on fishing, farming, and lumbering. In 1912, Marysville became part of the new state of Washington.
