Moses Lake is a city in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 7,857 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. Moses Lake has been inhabited by Native Americans since the 18th century and first appeared on maps in 1792. The town was platted in 1856 and named for General David Haines, who had fought against Comanche and Kiowa Indians near what is now Moses Lake. Moses Lake was once a major port for shipping goods from Puget Sound to the Pacific Northwest. In 1907, an engine house and crane were built at the intersection of 4th Avenue South and East Milton Street to provide storage for ships coming into Tacoma Bay. The old Moses Lake Engine House still stands as a museum within walking distance of downtown MosesLake today. The first gunsmiths in Moses Lake started making firearms in 1868 when J W Green bought land east of town from John A Riddle. By 1888, Green had two buildings dedicated to gunsmithing - one north of current 3rd Street on Third Avenue west of SR 513 (now 2nd Street) and another east of current Fourth Avenue south of SR 514 (now 1st Street). In 1903-04, George Barden began working as a machinist with American Arms & Ammunition Company at his shop behind First National Bank building on Fourth Avenue south of SR 514 (now 1st Street). There are several photos from that time period that show how important American Arms & Ammunition Company was to local pistolsmiths - it furnished most all the tools needed for their jobs including dies/machines/hammers/etc., which they would then use to make pistols from raw stock or parts received from other companies such as Colt & Co., Savage Arms etcetera. This company also supplied many different calibers with virtually every type barrel ever made! American Arms & Ammunition Company closed its doors around 1916 but not before leaving an indelible mark on local pistolsmithing history! It should be noted that many items found inside (e.g.: die sets) have been lost over time however some evidence can still be seen e.g.: tool marks left by rivets used during manufacturing process

Moses Lake is a beautiful, large body of water located in the Cascade Mountains of Washington. The name Moses Lake comes from an early settler named Moses who explored and surveyed the area in the 1830s. Today, Moses Lake is a popular tourist destination for fishermen, swimmers, and kayakers. It has also been used for agricultural purposes. The first Europeans to visit Moses Lake were fur traders working out of Fort Vancouver on the Canadian side of the border. They discovered a rich fishing and hunting grounds near the lake and made contact with local Native Americans. In 1839, Major George Simpson built his winter outpost at what is now called Simpsonville on the east bank of the lake. This was one of the first permanent settlements in what is now Moses Lake County. In 1851, General James Kensey arrived at Fort Vancouver with 5 hundred troops to help start construction on what would become Umpqua Valley Railroad Company’s main line between Portland and Seattle. The railway was important because it allowed goods traffic to bypass expensive wagon roads downriver and helped spur economic development around Port Orchard and Olympia Fields in central Washington. By 1870, Port Orchard had become an important port for grain shipping from Northwestern Canada and large amounts of lumber were being exported to Eastern markets. The population boom that followed brought more people into town, including many Germans who came looking for jobs in shipyards or coal mines during World War I (1914-1918). By 1920, Port Orchard had reached its peak as a manufacturing center with dozens of small businesses employing thousands of people throughout downtown; but by then it was largely deserted due to competition from larger cities along Interstate 5 southward. During World War II (1939-1945), most production at Ports Orchard took place at nearby Tacoma naval yards where aircraft carriers were built before being sent back upriver to Puget Sound for launch into combat against Japan But when war ended there was no need for warships anymore so factories closed down while workers went back into their homesickness awareness programs In 1990 there were only 2 active businesses left within downtown: A hardware store operated by member Bob Heumanninger which still exists today as well as small arts/crafts business run by Judy Herrmann which moved into her current building in 2001 After years of steady decline over time most all businesses closed or relocated away leaving behind vacant storefronts until 2014 when property owner Bob Heumanninger redeveloped part of downtown using funding from state government creating what is now known as Pioneer Square
