Oak Harbor is a town in Kitsap County, Washington, United States. As of the 2010 census, the population was 11,811. The first people to live in what is now Oak Harbor were the Hohokam people who arrived in the area around 1792. The first store and post office in town was built in 1836 by John Hays. In 1851, Charles Waddell established a sawmill that he named "Waddell's Mill." In 1854, J.H. Dickinson opened a grist mill which became known as Dickinson's Mill after its owner. By 1870 Oak Harbor had six stores and two churches. It had a population of over 100 people and four schools when it lost its status as an incorporated town due to annexation by Tacoma on July 1, 1871. In 1905, another lumber company, Pacific Lumber Company purchased Dickinson's Mill from J.H. Dickinson for $1 million dollars and renamed it "Pacific Lumber Company" after their new headquarters at 555 NW First Street in Tacoma This led to Oak Harbor becoming one of Puget Sound’s largest lumber towns with mills located throughout the region The last major development in Oak Harbor took place during World War II when various shipyards were built here including Abeel Shipbuilding Corporation (now Kaiserschleife Marine) which constructed submarines and other underwater vessels; Northwest Steel Works which manufactured steel products such as tanks and artillery pieces; Blanchard Paper Products which produced paper products such as toilet paper and envelopes; Precision Machine Tools Incorporated (PWM) which manufactured precision machines used by scientists and engineers throughout Puget Sound including MIG welding machines used at Boeing plants; Allied Signal Corporation (ASI) who manufactures electronic equipment for military use including radar antennas Oak Harbor also saw heavy industry come through during this time with Boeing opening up their Crawshaw Aeronautical Manufacturing Plant here starting up production of military planes such as bombers while Northrop Grumman Aircraft produced night fighters like the Alaska Airlines Lockheed P-38 Lightning during this time

Oak Harbor is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 5,814 at the 2010 census. It is part of theSeattle-Tacoma-Bellevue metropolitan area. The first permanent settlers in what is now Oak Harbor were two families who arrived on horseback from Montrose, Colorado on July 7, 1885. They built a small cabin and named it Rocky Point after their point of origin. In 1888 they added another family to the settlement and called it Eastsound after their Eastsound ranch where they raised crops and hunted hogs. In 1912 the townsite was organized as an unincorporated village when residents voted to incorporate as a town under the name of "Oak Harbor." However, no action took place until 1916 when voters approved amendments to Washington's Municipal Code changing the boundaries of cities into townships with voting rights for township citizens. The new town had a population of 160 people and was governed by a board of trustees appointed by then-Mayor John Merrill with advice from the Town Council. In 1946 Oak Harbor amalgamated with nearby SeaTac to form one municipality with a population approaching 2,000 people. At that time Mayor Merrill retired but continued to serve on the Town Council through its entirety until his death in 1977; thereafter all power vested in one elected governing body which included members appointed by Mayor Merrill four times during his term (1972–1977). In 1984 Mayor John Haggerty merged both municipalities into Seattle so that all citizens residing within either city limits were automatically treated as Seattle residents for municipal purposes including property taxes and other benefits conferred upon them by City Hall; however Oak Harbor retained its own governing authority for educational institutions (eastern high school) and criminal justice matters (the sheriff’s office). In 1990 Oak harbor reverted back to its separate status under Seattle municipal jurisdiction pending annexation by King County allowing for full Township government having taxing powers over businesses within its borders just like any other county or city authorities subject thereto without additional taxation being levied against respective populations living within their jurisdictions outside of those specifically allocated taxing powers notwithstanding special mayoral appointees or committees charged with carrying out said annexation plans whose responsibility would be confined only with respect thereto such as development planning/ zoning/ finance etc... Today Oak Harbor remains an agricultural community located along Puget Sound between Everett and Bellevue while continuing to maintain strong ties with its adjacent communities especially SeaTac moistland region home to many marine life species including orcas and humpbacks

Oak Harbor is a town in Pierce County, Washington, United States. The population was 6,553 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The name "Oak Harbor" was given to the town by Captain John Dallesandro on February 12, 1855 when he and his crew were exploring Puget Sound for new land to settle. Dallesandro named the river's channel after an oak tree growing near his shipyard on Elliott Island. In 1857, Captain George Vancouver chartered HMS Discovery and sailed into Puget Sound, searching for new land to explore and chart. His ship passed within sight of Oak Harbor while sailing around Mount Rainier National Park on their way home from exploring the sound. On October 25, 1857, Vancouver anchored outside of Oak Harbor with his men to rest and provision before continuing on their next journey northwestward along the coast of what is now Alaska. On May 3rd 1870 Washington Territorial Legislature created King County which included most of present-day Pierce County as well as all or part of what are now King County (including Seattle) and Snohomish County (including SeaTac). On July 1st 1870 Captains John Alderney and William Halsey became commissioners to administer this newly created county including Oak Harbor. From that date until 1907 no change was made in government authority over either Kings or Snohomish counties save for changes in county seat - first Olympia then Tacoma - both during annexation drives by King County in 1907-08 spearheaded by Mayor Collins and Congressman Cullen; however these moves did not include Oak Harbor though it lay within its boundaries until 1959 when it incorporated intoKingCounty as a result of vote taken by Commissioners Atwood and Welch On January 1st 1909 riots erupted between citizens of Tacoma over joblessness rates caused by prohibition laws enacted by Governor Jens Nilsen; this led to calls for secession from King County but were quashed by local officials who saw this as only another example of Tacoma'S problems which would be solved through cooperation withSeattleites In 1917 WWI veteran Ira Hayes enlisted in US Army Intelligence Service based out of Tacoma where he met future president Ronald Reagan After leaves service he opened successful restaurant called The Hermitage in Lynnwood called Ira's Cafe until it closed due to fire in 1984 By 1933 there were only 168 residents living in town limits compared with 474 today In 1962 voters approved annexing Snohomish River Valley so that Oak Harbor would become part of that larger community also consisting mainlyof Everett & White Center residents

In 1906, Oak Harbor became a city and annexation followed in 1917. The population of Oak Harbor increased rapidly during World War II with the war effort providing new jobs for local residents. Growth slowed after the war but resumed during the Reagan administration when new development took hold in downtown Oak Harbor. Since then, growth has been steady with more neighborhoods being annexed into the city limits since 1991.
