Oak Harbor, Washington is a town in Pierce County, Washington, United States. The population was 9,919 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The first gun case in Oak Harbor was made by George Hill in 1892. He built a log cabin and set up shop near what is now the intersection of Third and Pine Streets. In 1903, he moved his business to Fourth Street and started manufacturing Shotgun cases with his own two hands. His company became well-known throughout Puget Sound for their quality and durability. In 1916, Hill passed away and his son-in-law Prentice Cramer took over the business; Cramer's sons continued it until 1984 when it merged with another company to become JW Smith Gun Cases Incorporated (JSG). JSG continues to make shotgun cases today under the name JW Smith & Sons Incorporated (JSG). The early years of JSG were difficult due to prohibition issues in Tacoma but they persevered through thick and thin. They manufactured shotguns for both local law enforcement agencies as well as government troops during World War I and II. After prohibition ended in 1919, they began manufacturing rifles as well but Production slowed down due to high demand from military forces only later to resume again during the Vietnam era when rifle production increased significantly because of trade restrictions against South Vietnam . In 1984, JSG merged with another company producing similar products named "Henderson Manufacturing Company" which led to a reduction in production however continuing success has been maintained ever since with many new products added including 1911 pistols In 1985 JW Smith & Sons opened a branch office located in Olympia,Washington which became their main manufacturing center for handguns however this center closed several years later leaving Oak Harbor with few weapons manufacturers other than Handguns

Oak Harbor is a small town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 1,542 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle metropolitan area. The first permanent settler in what would become Oak Harbor was John Lyle in 1855. He and his family opened a general store on Union Street in what is now the downtown business district. By 1861, there were six businesses in the town: one grocery store, four churches (Anglican and Methodist), two schools (one grade school and one high school), and two sawmills. In 1871, a post office was established with Lyle as its first director. In 1904, local farmers organized a group to build a dam on Lake Washington to power their mills. The community named itself after General John Custer during World War I because he had been killed there near Arlington National Cemetery two years earlier while serving with the US Military expedition against Mexico under General Grant's command. The first mill built in Oak Harbor was the Snohomish Dam Pioneer Mill which started commercial production in 1916 when it output 50 sacks of flour per day from three stories of wind-powered machinery that raised flour from an elevator that took it to market on Highway 10 above sea level by barge. A second mill followed in 1922; this mill produced 500 sacks of flour per day using four stories of wind-powered machinery that raised flour from an elevator that took it to market on Highway 10 above sea level by barge In 1940, a new electric plant began operations making Oak Harbor one of the few areas east of Interstate 5 where electricity could be bought wholesale . The steel company Wrought Iron soon became dominant locally producing sheet metal for homebuilding and other products until it failed in 1984; however, local residents created their own steel company called Snohomish Industries llc which continued production until 1993 . Buffet style restaurants mushroomed starting around 1945 with places like Eastern Market becoming popular tourist destinations before quickly moving away after WW II ended hostilities between Japan and America; today only remnant remains including several excellent restaurants still open today such as Joe's Crab Shack down on Commercial Way across from KFC

Oak Harbor is an unincorporated community in Pierce County, Washington, United States. It lies on the south bank of the Deschutes River between the towns of departure and nova loris, and is several miles east of the mouth of the Columbia River. The population was 771 as of the 2000 census. The first European to visit what is now Oak Harbor was Captain George Vancouver on his Discovery Expedition in 1792-93. Vancouver named it after a small island near present-day Newport News, Virginia. In 1836, James Kelling founded The Alaskan Company at what is now Oak Harbor after purchasing land from Chief Seattle for $5,000. He built a wharf there and started shipping Alaska Native goods around Puget Sound. The company failed in 1841 but Kelling did not give up and continued to operate it until 1870 when he sold it to John Dallimore who renamed it Dallimore & Co., becoming its main commercial backer through most of its existence. Dallimore also developed Whatcom County which includes much of what is now Oak Harbor (and part of Newcastle) into today's rural areas northeast of Seattle

In 1881, the first white people arrived on the shores of what is now Oak Harbor. The town was founded by John Wesley Smith and his family. In 1892, the first electric streetcar service ran through town. In 1902, a post office was established in Oak Harbor. In 1924, a fire destroyed much of the downtown business district, but Oak Harbor flourishes as an agricultural center thanks to its fertile soil and water availability. The population has grown steadily over the years with more and more people moving into the area for job opportunities and new homes.
