The history of airguns in Port Angeles, Washington goes back to 1892. At that time, the city was known as Sitka and was a center for fishing and hunting. The residents of Port Angeles decided to start using airguns to hunt game. One man, J.D. Armstrong, started making airguns in his home and selling them to other residents. In 1907,Armstrong donated his equipment and stock to the Port Angeles Historical Society in order to keep it running. In 1922, the first gun show was held in town and featured guns from all over the United States. The popularity of airguns continued to grow until World War II when demand for firearms diminished because of the war effort. After the war ended, there were no new supply options available so Airgun manufacture faded away until the late 1990s when a new company called Bushmaster introduced a replica version of an 1894 Colt revolver into the market which quickly became popular among collectors.

The first Europeans to arrive in what is now Port Angeles were fur traders from Siberia who journeyed downriver from Alaska during freeze-ups in 1850-1851 seeking passage westward through North America on their way to find new markets for their products. The first written record of what is now Port Angeles comes from 1792 when Captain George Vancouver sighted land north of Puget Sound which he named "Nanook" after his Native American trading partner Noble Canning (1684-1746). After further exploration by British ships in 1831–32, Vancouver identified two small islands off shore which he named "Athabascum" (today's Nisqually Island) because they looked like snowflakes seen from a high up perspective at sea level according to contemporary descriptions.
