Tasers were first used in the Sammamish, Washington area in the early 1990s. At that time, the police department had to use different methods to deal with suspects because there was no real way to incapacitate them with a weapon. One of the earliest taser devices was developed by West Point Military Academy graduate and electrician Harry Laughlin. Sammamish is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 2,924 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Seattle-Tacoma-Bellevue metropolitan area. The first white person to live in what is now Sammamish was James Sinclair in 1814 when he and his family built a cabin on the banks of the Elliott River. The name "Sammamish" was derived from the local dialect name for this place, "halsa". The first post office in Sammamish was established in 1853 and served until 1907. In 1903, it became part of Seattle as part of an annexation referendum by King County. The current NameChange process began on July 1, 2006 and took less than two months to complete; prior to that date there had been several attempts by different groups to change the town's name without success. One theory about why the community voted overwhelmingly for a new name is that it represented more accurately their history and culture which has been watered down or obscured by other communities nearby. Others feel that using a Native Americansounding name would only further antagonize some residents who are not native Americans while also offending others who may see Jeff Bezos' Amazon company as being owned by Europeans rather than natives. Ultimately, it will be up to voters to decide whether or not they want to keep the original name or rename themselves after one of Seattle's most famous neighborhoods such as Magnolia or Greenwood Village

Sammamish is a town in King County, Washington, United States. The population was 3,471 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of King County and the largest town in north Puget Sound. The land that makes up Sammamish was first settled by humans about 10,000 years ago. The first permanent European settlers were Scottish immigrants who arrived in 1851. They built a log cabin on an old logging site near what is now downtown Sammamish. In 1865, the heirs of Alexander Graham Bell founded a telephone company in nearby Bellevue and began to build telephone lines through Sammamish and other towns in King County. By 1920, all of northern Puget Sound had been served by phone companies with headquarters located in Seattle; however, Sammamish remained isolated until 1964 when it became part of the newly created city of Bellevue. In 1928, Everett Waddell developed a farmstead called Cedar Ridge which would later become home to the University of Washington School of Dentistry (now UW Medical School). The school moved from its original location on NE 125th Street to Cedar Ridge during World War II due to wartime restrictions on housing for dentists. In 1951, when WA 8591 was created as KING-TV's second channel after KOMO-TV went dark following the FCC's decision not to renew its license renewal request because of increasing television competition from commercial broadcasters such as ABC and NBCUniversal), Waddell donated his farmstead - including portions of his house - to then-WB affiliate KIRO-TV for use as their new originating studios while also providing live programming from his farmhouse throughout southcentral Washington beginning September 15 that year until he sold it back to KING-TV on October 6th following their switch from independent station status to CW affiliation effective that day. On July 22nd 1961 KING opened its new building at 5191 NE Highway 99W which included offices for news operations (then known as "KBVE"), public relations (now known as "KIRO Radio News", "KIRO 7 NEWS", or simply "7") and online services (later known as "Seattle TV Online"). This building still stands today across from Safeway on SW 158th Street just west of Interstate 5 interchange where legendary Seattle radio personality Don Mueller used to work before moving downstate soon afterwards The move came despite objections from several prominent local businessmen who felt thatKING should remain an independent station like they had always intended; these men were actually behind efforts led by then-owner Milton Whitehead Sr., owner/operator of KBVE/AM) before Whitehead passed away suddenly in 1960 having failed twice unsuccessfully attempt buy out KIRO's parent company KEOL Broadcasting Corporation Ltd., making him one third party owner indirectly responsible for both stations' shutdowns along with KHON-(another key WWDC sister station) once KEOL merged into Hearst Corporation Allentown PA assets purchased therefollowing suit former WABA announcer Pat Reedy taking over ownership duties at KHON upon Hearst Corporation divestiture becoming KNPO Portland OR concurrently creating one major broadcast center without any daylight remaining within this market resulting eventually in each station being shuttered essentiallymidstream during this period OF ALL HISTORY KIRO HAS BEEN MISCONDUCTED BY HEARST CORPORATION
Sammamish was the site of the first white settlement in what is now Washington State. In 1851, John McLane, a settler from New York City, purchased land at Sammamish River for $5 per acre. The town was founded on December 5, 1851 and named after McLane's home village in Scotland. The first post office opened in October 1852. By 1865, there were 20 residents living in the town. The population declined rapidly due to disease and farming collapse in the late 1800s. In 1954, Sammamish lost its status as a small town when it became part of King County.
