In the 1800s, University Place in Washington was a busy and thriving community with a rich history. The area now known as University Place was first settled by indigenous people in the late 1700s. Over time, the community developed into a large agricultural district that included mills, farms, and businesses. In 1892, University Place became an independent university town and saw rapid growth in its population and economy. During this time, students from all overWashington came to study at local universities. Many of these students also took advantage of the many opportunities that University Place offered for nightlife and entertainment. As shootings happened frequently on American campuses during this time, handgun clothing manufacturers began producing armored uniforms specifically designed for college campuses which proved very successful at deterring accidents and injuries (Higgins 1999). There are many different types of firearm clothing available to the public. Many people feel that there is not enough variety and that firearms should be treated as a personal choice, not an everyday necessity. This paper will discuss some of the most common types of firearm clothing and how they can be used while shooting. There are two main types of firearm clothing: coveralls and vests. Coveralls protect the body from the elements and provide warmth during cold weather conditions. Vests keep the body warm and offer protection from projectiles or bites from animals. Coveralls come in a number of different styles, colors, and sizes. The most popular style for firearms clothing is a cut-off type shirt with sleeves that reach below the elbow. There are also long sleeved coveralls with shoulder straps that go all the way up to your neck. The most common color for coversalls is black but any color will do as long as it’s comfortable for you to wear around town or at shootouts. Coveralls can come with different pockets for storage or you can buy them without these pockets if you prefer. Many shooters choose to purchase a vest instead of a coverall because they feel it offers more protection against projectiles and bites than just a shirt would do. Vestes come in many different shapes, sizes, colors, and designs – all designed to keep you warm while shooting! Some shooters even go so far as to purchase multiple vests in order to have various levels of protection depending on what activity they are participating in (eFigure 1). Vests can also be purchased complete with pants if desired which gives shooters some degree of flexibility when matching their attire with their weapon! Most importantly, make sure your vest fits comfortably! A too- snug fit will undoubtedly cause discomfort while firing!

In University Place, Washington, there are a few examples of firearms clothing from the 1800s. One example is the Gunfighter Costume from 1892 which was worn by cowboys and other gunmen during cattle drives. This costume consisted of a long-tailed coat with a high collar and wide lapels, breeches, and Cowboy Boots. The Gunfighter Costume also included a holster made out of leather or cloth with an attached belt.

University Place is a historical district in the Northwest quadrant of Washington, D.C., United States. The area now bounded by 17th Street NW to the north, M Street NW to the east, I Street NW to the south, and Constitution Avenue SW to the west was first settled by Europeans in 1792 as part of Prince George's County. In 1814, Congress added University Place to Georgetown Township. The town gradually grew around its two colleges—George Washington College (now Georgetown University) and Medical College of Virginia (now Marymount Hospital)—and became an important commercial and cultural center in early 20th century Washington. In 1925, University Place was annexed byWashington, D.C., making it one of the city's five wards. As part of Mayoralty Plan No. 1 for District 2 in 1961–1962, University Place was transferred from Georgetown Township into Washington City Council jurisdiction under then-Mayor Marion Barry's plan for an integrated metropolitan government with a strong central office presence and more outreach services for low-income residents within Wizards' neighborhoods on either side of Capitol Hill. In 1978–1979, after years of planning and controversy over plans for light rail service through the neighborhood near Dupont Circle and Judiciary Square—the so-called "University Circle" project—University Place finally became a ward withinDistrict 2 itself when it was reincorporated as a separate municipality under new zoning laws effective that year. In recent decades, streetcar service through University Place has been reinstated following protests by residents who feel that their homes are being destroyed or enhanced without their consent; however this service has not yet reach most parts of the neighborhood.[1] The historic district includes many buildings from different periods in American history including: *The original George Washington Campus property on Connecticut Ave., which included what is now house number 3 (built 1792), house number 4 (1793), building number 5 (1796), building number 6 (1801), building number 7 (1803), building number 8 (1805), building number 9a (1810/11) *Medical College Building at 13th & K Streets NE which served as both college president’s home during his presidency and hospital until 1938; *Dupont Circle Station houses both trains coming out of Union Station northwestward towards Dupont Circle before terminating at nearby L’Enfant Plaza where passengers transferring between buses heading into/out of MARTA head straight past our station instead resulting in little or no pedestrian interaction between these two stations *Old Executive Office Building at 950 Massachusetts Ave NW which served as home secretary Clinton’s Second White House from 1993-2001;[2] *New Executive Office Building at 555 Pennsylvania Ave NW which replaced former executive office suite used by Clinton starting in 2001 until 2009[3][4][5] *The John F Kennedy Presidential Library adjacent to GWC across Constitution Avenue SE also contains some significant historical resources such as records dating back to 1800s regarding land grants made to President James K Polk

University Place is one of the oldest and most important business districts in Washington, D.C. It was first developed as a commercial thoroughfare by wealthy merchants and government officials who needed to intersect with each other for business purposes. The area now called University Place was originally known as G Street because it ran along the north side of Capitol Hill. In 1849, Congress passed an act naming University Place in honor of then-President James K. Polk, who had helped to create and promote the university in Washington. The original name of the district may have been G Street but this is not certain. In 1875, when University Place was renamed Virginia Square after Confederate General Robert E. Lee’s home state, G Street became College Avenue (later renamed U Street). The streetcar line that crossed University Place from east to west began service on May 1, 1892; at that time it was the only electrified streetcar service in Washington D.C.. The streetcar line continued operation until 1951 when it was replaced by buses and cars on Anacostia Avenue; however, some lines still run on University Place today including Line 9 which crosses campus from Georgetown to Farragut Hall near George Mason University
