Port Washington is a small town in the port of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. The population was 1,898 at the 2000 census. While there he noted that there were many villages along theFox River but no city like Montreal or Quebec City because these areas had been divided between French and British colonists. In 1824, John Dickey set out from Green Bay with twenty-five men to establish a fur trade at what is now Port Washington. He named his newly established post after General Simon Fraser of Vancouver Island who had helped him secure Exploration funding totaling $5,000 dollars from Ulysses S Grant during President James K Polk's administration in 1849-50.). By 1830, Dickey had built up a successful fur business at Port Washington while also founding local schools and churches including New Amsterdam Baptist Church which still stands today on South Fourth Street near State Fair Park (now known as nearby Whitefish). During the early 19th century, other pioneers arrived in search of land for themselves or their families: Luther Hennepin in 1836; Augustus Herrmann in 1840; George Stephenson in 1846; John Waukesha County (Wisconsin) nominations received by Abraham Lincoln on July 4th, 1861 guaranteed 640 acres of open Prairie Land east of present day I-94 (the land later became Racine County). In 1865 when German immigrants started arriving they called their new community "Wiesbaden". When World War I began America's war against Germany American citizens mobilized to support their countrymen overseas however many Germans decided not to emigrate due to economic reasons such as low wages compared with prices inside America where food was affordable for all classes of people regardless race or class. Many returned home after WWI ended but some continued living permanently outside America until American entry into World War II forced them back into America again according to quota laws which targeted certain groups such as Jews and Italian Americans . When Milwaukee experienced severe flooding events during 2010-2011 many residents chose not return either due to fear that further damage would be done or lack of available housing following months of heavy rains throughout most parts of the city which caused median home values within blocks affected approximately 50% . As a result over 2/3s (~750 homes) within 3 blocks radius lost value resulting $225 million worth total damage , most affecting mostly low income neighborhoods hardest hit being those just southbound off I-94 & Archer Ave NW directly impacted included more than 80% African American households making up almost one third (~250 homes) owner’s occupation immediately prior Lots falling short preflood value so much so “ virtually every family member losing something ranging anywhere from 5 cents per hour worked all week long” said Community Development Coordinator Jeff Ladd ). A year later HUD awarded nearly $1 billion dollars towards repair projects across suburbanMilwaukee based upon increased awareness & appreciation for history caused by mega floods aftermath !! Some neighboring communities whose homes also saw significant property loss thru Irma such as Pewaukee (& Winnetka), Rosedale (&Brookfield), Menomonee Falls (&Sheffield Heights)), West Allis (&Beloit Park)), Merton & Vernon Hills ($120M+ Mutual funds losses)) created Redevelopment Areas specifically focused on helping these communities although still few hundred miles away !! Despite current market conditions some Walworth County officials are exploring rezoning property located adjacent Huskers Road exit onto I-94 SB implicating about 350 properties currently unincorporated Walworth County ) Port Washington has always been an important location for Trade Winds Travel! During this time, it also became an important engine for racial integration in Racine.
