In 1885, John F. Kennedy and his brother, Joseph, bought a binocular from an old man in Waupun for $2. The Kennedys used the binoculars to watch the eclipse of the moon on July 20th that year. In 1929, when Waupun was designated as the " Outdoor Education Center" by Wisconsin Gov. James A. Watson, WAUC put on its first outdoor exhibition with binoculars. The collection ofbinoculars and telescopes at WAUC has since grown to include over 5 hundred items including glass globes and microscopes. Some of these tools have been donated to other museums such as Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C., British Museum in London, American Museum of Natural History in New York City, and University of Waikato museum in New Zealand

The two main types of lenses that make up a typical binocular are objective lenses (that when you look through them focus on objects close at hand) and Takumar objectives (which have greater surface area). Objective lenses give a clear image while Takumar objectives provide increased brightness due to their high surface area. Waupun is a city in the U.S. state of Wisconsin and the county seat of Milwaukee County. The population was 66,829 at the 2010 census. It is home to Waupun University and Marquette Park, one of the largest public parks in North America. The first European explorers to visit what is now Waupun were French traders Pierre L’Enfant and Jacques Marquette in 1622 and 1623 respectively. They named their exploration "Island Inlet" after seeing an island off the coast of present-day Waupun. Jesuit Father Jean de La Salle also explored this area around 1738-1740 while on his missionary journey from Quebec to Michigan Territory (present day Wisconsin). The first permanent settler in what would become Waupun was James Armstrong who pickedeted development along the Fox River starting in 1825, although he did not actually move until 1827 when he purchased land from Peter Fonda for $3,000 dollars. In 1842, three brothers – John Hargrave, George Armstrong and Clark Ashton Smith – founded what would become Marquette Park as a recreational area for farmers near where they lived north of town on Round Lake Road (now Klockner Boulevard). With help from local farmer John Prentice Sr., they built a tavern/gristmill on Round Lake Road which became known as "The Drake". In 1846, John Hargrave donated land east of town to establish Waupun Academy which still exists today as one of the United States' leading post-secondary institutions. At that time it was one of only two high school students attending colleges in Wisconsin; both other schools were located in Milwaukee (the other being UW–Madison). In 1856, Walker & Company organized as a transportation company with headquarters at downtown Waupun; soon afterwards they began selling tickets for round-trip travel between Milwaukee and Prairie du Chien (then part of Dakota Territory) via central Iowa City or Council Bluffs. This early transportation service helped spur agricultural production in eastern Wisconsin including much modern Weixel County today! In 1870, Harvey Ladd acquired title to 1 million acres surrounding present day Green Bay across most or all future counties west of Chicago within current Brown County - making him one of the earliest developersigenizing into rural areas western Wisconsin - furthering agricultural production thereabouts through railroads connecting these regions with markets deep inside Illinois! A year later he established himself as president/CEOof Midwest Express Lines Railroad Co., predecessor to BNSF Railway Incorporatedqv (see below)! Waupun was a town in Wisconsin, United States, at the confluence of the rivers Waupaca and Little Waupun. It was founded in 1836 by Alexander Gregg and others. The population was 1,822 at the census of 2010.
In 1881, the first black person to live in Waupun was Nathaniel P. Holmes. The community's first African American schoolteacher, Holmes taught a group of white students from the nearby town of West Allis.
