These binoculars were called “Leatherback” because they were made with leather lenses instead of glass or metal. It was not until 1865 that a company called Kossuth produced the first waterproof binocular design with a plastic lens. By 1886, both Loomis & Co., and Kossuth had ceased production and replaced their leather-lensedbinocular designs with metal-framed models known as “Kossuth watertight models” (Fowler). With advances in technology over the years, more people became interested in using binoculars for everyday purposes such as hunting, fishing, gardening, and surveying. In 1933, two Americans named Theodore Roosevelt and Franklin D. Roosevelt bought some Kossuth watertight models from Loomis & Co., and started using them for hunting trips throughout America (Diller). Even though there has been many advancements in technology over the years, binoculars remain one of the most versatile tools available to civilians today (Walsh).

Weston is a town in Door County, Wisconsin, United States. The population was 2,927 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Chicago-Naperville- Joliet Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in Weston was Levi Coffin in 1837. The town was organized on December 15, 1839 by order of the Wisconsin Territorial Legislature. On November 4, 1840, the first post office opened in Weston with Wauwatosa as its mailing address. In 1847, Isaac Morse donated land to Weston for a public square and schoolhouse. The first store was built on Main Street in 1850 and became known as "Morse's Store." In 1857, John Neely bought land at what is now 141st Street and Center Road for $500 from David Dunhams. He built a log cabin there which served as his home until he died in 1865. Neely's daughter married George Hennepin and she ran the grocery business until it closed in 1922; her husband also operated a sawmill that produced lumber for Weston's buildings until it closed around 1930. In 1909 local banker Jens Lehmann donated land east of State Street to become a park named after him called Lehman Park after him and his wife Lilla (née Kapp). Lehmann had been born into poverty near Milwaukee but attained considerable wealth through speculation during the Panic of 1907-08 through buying government bonds which went up in value due to increased international trade demand following World War I In 1916 he erected an opera house across from City Hall which seats 1,000 people; however this structure too came down within 25 years when new zoning laws were put into effect making theaters unprofitable because they drew large crowds rather than providing services such as retail storefronts or cultural attractions like music halls or museums . Also during this time new shopping malls were being built all over America including one near downtown Chicago called Sears Tower which would eventually be replaced by Willis Tower . In 1947 evidence surfaced linking Democratic Party corrupt practices within state government including bribery of county judges Upon learning about these activities authorities launched an investigation led by then Assistant Attorney General Julius Rosenwald who immediately indicted 16 top state officials including governors Menzie Johnson (D) & Harold Hughes (R) along with state treasurer Albert Jahn (D) & two members of the Board of Administration After monthslong trial prosecuted by Rosenwald and six other prosecutors who won acquittals on all counts except one disqualification against future prosecution arising from conflict of interest charges against some defendants Rosenwald finally prevailed upon Governor Wahlen to pardon all defendants except menzie jordan & hugh Hughes who received five year terms plus hard labor . A day later Rosenwald delivered his keynote address at Northwestern University Law School’s annual meeting where he announced that “the American system can no longer work without reform” resulting in enactment of several statutes constitutes “Wisconsin Open Government Bill” becoming effective January 1st , 1951

Weston was founded by John Rolfe on November 3, 1836 as a small farming village. In 1912, Weston became one of 15 townships in Dane County when it was created from portions of La Crosse Township. The city also celebrates notable cultural events each year such as Art Blakey's Jazz Festivals or Wisconso Fairgrounds Horse Races which are some of the largest agricultural events in North America.
