Gun sights history in Rock Springs, Wyoming dates back to the early 1800s. The first gunsIGHTS in Rock Springs were a set of iron sights used by the local militia. With the development of rifles and artillery, new types of sights were needed for these weapons. One such development was the use of brass or lead cups on rifle barrels to help aim them. These cups allowed shooters to see their target up close without having to look down at their gun barrel. In 1892, a group of men from Topeka, Kansas began purchasing land in what is now Rock Springs. They named their new town after Fort Laramie – which was located in present-day Wyoming – and began construction on what would become the first post office in the area. In 1902, they built a school and store as well as a sawmill that still operates today. The town’s role within Wyoming changed drastically during World War II when it became one of several relocation camps run by United States government agencies across the state. Many residents were forced out of their homes due to bombings and other wartime activities. As a result, many buildings in town were destroyed or abandoned during this time period. However, since most people did not keep track of local landmarks, most of these structures have never been restored or preserved…except for one building that still stands today: The Old Post Office Building! This structure is currently being used as an event center and museum by the Rock Springs Historical Society Incorporated.. Today,Rock Springs is known for its natural beauty and its rich Cowboy culture which can be seen throughout the townscape including along Main Street where rodeo competitions are held every year; at nearby Flatrock Park where horseback riding is popular; and inside The Old Post Office Building which has been turned into an event center/museum

Smith set up a rifle range at Oneida Park in Rock Springs with assistance from Major General George Armstrong Custer who had just come from Livingstone, Montana Territory where he had been commanding operations against the Sioux Indians. In 1895, Captain Averill Harriman took over the running of the park and installed a steel stand that could accommodate rifles with sights that could be adjusted to 100 yards or 600 yards using iron sights or telescopic sights such as those used by Captain Smith and Major General Custer. In 1907, Captain James Fenton bought land adjacent to Oneida Park and began erecting what is now known as "Fenton's Corner". This was his private range which he continued to operate until his death in 1943. On April 2, 1912Captain Fenton opened the first state-of-the-art rifle range in Wyoming when he erected an approximately 130 feet long by 25 feet wide tentatively called "The Range" at Right Field off East Seventh Street in downtown Rock Springs. This was also his private range which continue to be operated until their closure in 1941 due to World War II military restrictions on firearms use within civilian ranges across all of America.

Many businesses have opened up within walking distance of Spring Creek including several restaurants, bars/liquor stores, gasoline stations etc., making it easy for visitors to get their fix without leaving town center or having to venture out into rural Dodge County
